Behind-the-scenes look at my Sitzprobe rehearsal for Into the Woods where I’m singing the role of the Stepmother. As a theatre educator and performer, I love showing the process—from character work to vocal performance to those magical rehearsal discoveries.
If you’ve ever done a Sitzprobe, you know the chaos, the laughter, and the moments where it all comes alive.

My 6th graders are working on “Popular,” and they were living for it.
Their confidence?
Their commitment?
Their sass?
10/10. 💅🏽💚

Here’s a peek at me directing them—faces cropped, but the vibes are ✨immaculate✨.

Took my students to see San Francisco Opera’s Monkey King dress rehearsal today! 🐒✨
The audience was full of students from all over the Bay Area, and the energy was incredible.

The voices were stunning, and the acrobatics, costumes, puppetry, set design, video projections, and lighting were truly spectacular—such a vibrant fusion of tradition and innovation.

Only note: I wish there had been more speakers in the balcony so we could hear the soloists a little better. But overall, what an unforgettable experience for our kids! 🎭💛

We have the power — the power to show up, to be heard, to vote. From the musical Suffs comes this rallying cry. Let’s honour the legacy of those who fought for this right and use it today. 🎶
Thank you to Shaina Taub and the creators of Suffs for this stirring call-to-action.

✨ Remembering My Abuelita, Litabelle Agnes Dorsey ✨
This is my grandmother, Litabelle Agnes Dorsey — the sweetest person on earth. 💐

She had a warmth that filled every room, a laugh that made you feel at home, and a heart that never stopped giving. I feel her spirit in every act of kindness, every song I sing, and every tradition passed down through our family.

Today, as we honor our ancestors, I celebrate her legacy of love, grace, and joy.

I’ve passed by this man outside the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco and often wondered who he was. Today, I learned his name — Timothy Blevins, a Juilliard-trained baritone who once graced opera stages and Broadway, now sharing his gift on the streets. His voice stops people in their tracks — raw, powerful, and filled with truth.

It’s a reminder that talent and artistry don’t disappear when circumstances change. They live within us. May we never walk past the beauty that still sings. 🎶💔✨

Went to Yerba Buena Gardens in SF to see Opera Parallèle’s Hello, Star — and wow, I had no idea how much more there was to explore! 🌿✨ From the MLK waterfall memorial to the butterfly garden and art all around, it’s a hidden oasis of beauty and culture right in the middle of downtown. Can’t wait to go back and spend more time there. 💫🎭🎶

✨ Opera that Inspires! ✨
Went to see Opera Parallèle’s Hello, Star, a stunning new work that highlights the brilliance and contributions of Black women in science through the eyes of a young Black protagonist.

Director L. Peter Callender describes the opera as a “love letter to children who look at the stars” and a heartfelt tribute to real-life trailblazers like Mae Jemison, Katherine Johnson, and Stephanie D. Wilson.

The voices were absolutely stellar — Aniyjah Garrett as young Celeste, Christabel Nunoo as adult Celeste, Aisha Campbell as Mother/Trainer, and Bradley Kynard as Big Star — each bringing warmth, power, and wonder to the stage. 🌟

This opera is a celebration of curiosity, courage, and possibility. If you have the chance to see it — go. It’s a beautiful reminder that the sky is never the limit. 🌠
