It took me years to finally see this project in person.

This Hampton Inn lobby in downtown Austin was one of my early commercial projects, and until recently I had only ever seen the professional photographs. So when I finally made it to Austin, I had to stay there. Seeing it firsthand was pretty amazing after all those years.

Our Sphere to Eternity pattern was specified throughout the lobby in 1/4" thick steel, powder coated in a brass colored finish. No expense was spared on the material selection.

I always say, why cut in metal if it's not going to have dimension? That material depth is what brings my patterns to life, shifting them from something graphic and two-dimensional into something sculptural. The 1/4" steel really speaks for itself here.

We also paid careful attention to the 4" rule for railing openings, so the pattern scaling had to be thoughtfully resolved throughout the space.

What makes this one especially meaningful to me is that Sphere to Eternity is the pattern that started my whole business. Seeing it years later at this scale, anchoring an entire hotel lobby, felt pretty incredible.
