Children’s Fairyland is America’s first storybook theme park, located on the shores of Lake Merritt in the heart of Oakland, California. A nonprofit community organization, Fairyland offers children and families a safe, stimulating environment for play and imagination with fairy tales, fantasy sets, performing arts, animals, and unique children's programming focused on early childhood education an

d literacy. As part of our mission to encourage young children to discover the joys of reading, we welcome school children on field trips from all over the Bay Area and offer subsidized visits to neighbors in need.

⚠️IMPORTANT! Read for clear instructions getting to the Park for Juneteenth celebrations this Friday, June 19. Fairyland is open 10a-4p. Road closures near the lake may affect your route to the Park.

Street Closures on June 19:
Grand Avenue will be closed between MacArthur Boulevard and Euclid Ave.
Lakeshore Avenue and Grand Avenue will be blocked off.
🚫We recommend against taking Lakeshore Ave or Grand Ave when exiting the freeway.

Alternate Freeway Exit:
If you’re traveling on I-580, please use Exit 21A: Harrison Street
Directions from I-580 (Harrison Street Exit – 21A):
Take Exit 21A (Harrison Street)
Turn left onto Harrison Street (if coming from I-580 East)
Turn left onto Bay Place
Turn left onto Grand Avenue
Turn right onto Bellevue Avenue
Continue into Lakeside Park to reach Children’s Fairyland

✨This year, Fairyland's Storybook Puppet Theater celebrates 70 years of creating very special magic, making it the country's longest continuously running puppet theater.

💖The history and the labor of love within these walls have made their way into the hearts of children for generations.

✨The artists who've built the work and dreamed up the stories told here are legends.

💖There are no corners cut, only deep devotion and ever-inspired humans doing what they love to bring children into something rare, compelling, and imaginative.
