About Ari:
Ari Salim Marcus has been playing the Arabic tablah to live belly dancing all of his life. At age 10, he joined his dad's ensemble, the UCSB Middle East Ensemble, where he picked up the nay, the Arab flute, which is now his second main instrument. Ari Salim, his dad and his brother, all have Master's Degrees in Ethnomusicology with a specialty in Arab music, and are all professional musicians who have studied music in Cairo.
