BLOOMING IN THE DESERT 🏜️🌼

an art gathering centered on the joy and beauty of restoration, the idea that something dry, broken, or empty can come back to life

key reminders from this workshop:
* There is no ‘wrong’ version of restoration
* Your painting can reflect your season
* This is about exploring why creatively expressing our faith looks like together

Isaiah said it best:

“Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel or the plain of Sharon. There the Lord will display his glory, the splendor of our God. With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”” Isaiah 35‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭

Been awhile since I’ve done a little introduction here 🎨
I’m Emily, the heart behind Painting the Scriptures!

One of my greatest passions is about helping people uncover purpose through creative expression especially when it leads to discovering freedom in Christ and being rooted in our identity in Jesus 🕊️

The idea of Painting The Scriptures was brought to life out of the secret place, the quiet hidden moments with the Lord and after sharing my ideas with my close community, I was encouraged to start sharing my story through art so that others can experience God’s love through the gift of creative expression.

Since then, I’ve had the joy of hosting paint nights where we creatively engage with scripture. After a much needed pause last year, I’m excited to relaunch! I’m grateful for all that God is doing as I prepare for new sessions. Stay tuned because there’s a whole lot of fun and meaning coming your way ✨

When you think you were just coming to paint and sip but instead, you found yourself surrounded by faith-filled women painting the scriptures each one expressing the Word uniquely, yet all being drawn to the same truth and purpose

Grateful for each of these ladies who came to support a paint night where I combined my heart for missions and creative expression!

God is SO FAITHFUL 🤍

MISSION FIELD PREP 🌍🫶🏽🕊️

The artist of this painting just got saved last week at Easter, their first time stepping into a church. While attending service, someone told her they had an extra ticket for the paint night and invited her to join, now connected to the body through a faith-based paint night.

I 🤍 THE HOLY SPIRIT

paraklētos “the One who is called alongside”

in Ancient Greek culture a “paraclētos” was a legal advocate, a supporter in times of trouble, a trusted helper who stands with you

para: beside, alongside
kaleō: to call

Not only does God send his Holy Spirit to walk daily with us but makes us to be a resting place, a place of dwelling for the Holy Spirit. Until Jesus returns.

We have the Holy Spirit. In what ways have you seen the Holy Spirit active in your life?

“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.” John‬ ‭14‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭🤍

Accusations. Punishment. Death.

The words I associated with my sin and in the ways I fall short.

But Jesus didn’t just die, He became the wages of my sin. It doesn’t say he sent another to die on my behalf, he himself became what was owed so that I can know freedom.

Jesus took on a death that was meant for me. For the first time ever I saw this truth through the lens of love and mercy instead of doubt and fear.

Earlier this year I got to lead at a youth retreat where it unexpectedly snowed on our last day.
Snow was not on the forecast but apparently it was on God’s heart. The snow became a picture showing that not only did Jesus become the wages of our sin in full, but he also redeems, purifies, and makes all things new. Truly His blood was required to wash us whiter than snow.

accusation was replaced with a renewed depth of grace.

Condemnation destroyed by acceptance and justification, reminding me that growth is not rooted in shame but in truth and love.

Fear of punishment transformed into a personal awareness of God’s tender mercy and forgiveness

Death replaced with life, restoration, and hope.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬ ‭🤍

airports always seem to be one of the most hurried and chaotic places to create with peace and from a place of abiding this particular trip stress levels and anxiety seemed to be high for no reason at all

but it’s 2026 and we’re moving unrushed and with purpose

a reminder to keep creating in the chaos and in the waiting

create in between destinations
create in the unknown
create before arriving because even there fruit is being produced
