A little slice of heaven...
After two years at the Parkway Lounge, H***y Tonk Heaven has found a new home at the Golden Bull! Starting January 2020, every 4th Sunday will see the Bull turned into a Grand Ol’ Opry-style h***y tonk throw down, featuring Oakland’s own h***y tonk revisionists Crying Time and some of the best country and americana bands around. These are no-cover shows (tips are appreciated), music starts at 7:30, an everyone’s home by 10!
This very DIY series began in June 2017 and has featured Bay Area and out-of-town country (and almost country) performers like The Bear Flag Trio, Laura Benitez, Moonshine Maybelline, Loretta Lynch, Nashville Honeymoon, Maurice Tani & 77 El Deora, The Bitter Diamonds, Kevin Russell & the Rustlers, Val Esway & El Mirage, Thomas Heyman, Evie Ladin, The Muddy Roses, Kneel (Angela Coon’s femme-fronted Neil Young Tribute band), Danny Allen’s High Diving Horses, Leigh Crow’s Velvetta, and Sluggo Cawley’s REQ'D. The monthly shows have gained an audience among country music aficionados, dancers, and musicians, as well as the bar's regulars.
