Movie Heroes took the theatrical world by storm when they launched a Netflix-style theatrical membership model to save their local theater. The former owners closed the theater in 2012, shocking the community. Matt Sconce and Keith Walker, childhood friends, with their friend James Nelson, created a plan to save the theater. They not only saved the theater and were able to re-open it, but were als

o surprised by the extremely positive unexpected results of the conversion to a membership model. Now, with almost 4,000 members, their five-screen, first-run theater is a destination for local patrons and tourists alike. Movie Heroes transforms movie going by bringing excellence to the viewing experience and creating a place of freedom where cost is not a consideration in watching a movie. Come visit us for an awesome cinema experience with a newly remodeled interior, welcoming staff, our famously delicious popcorn, and of course...epic movies. Yosemite VR is the only permanent Positron Powered Virtual Reality theater in the United States. The groundbreaking experience is narrated by Bryan Cranston. 50 years after the story began, HIGH GROUND is coming home to Yosemite.

We’re incredibly excited for the World Premiere of HIGH GROUND at Yosemite Cinema, Oakhurst, on 5 September 2026 at 7 pm.

The film tells the extraordinary true story of the smugglers whose plane crashed into a frozen Yosemite lake, the rangers who discovered it, and the broke Camp 4 climbers who secretly trekked back into the mountains to steal the w**d.

After the screening, stay for a Q&A with the filmmakers, climbers, and people involved in the story.

This one will be special.
