Discovery Depot welcomes visitors on weekends (Saturdays & Sundays 1 pm to 5 pm) with a variety of child-friendly activities that bring the wonders of geology and paleontology to life.

Dig in caves for gems and then be able to identify them at identification tables. Pan for gold in a water trough and keep what you find. Get geodes cut in half and discover what's inside?

Come on into the warmth of Discover Depot. Great indoor activities for kids! We are specially OPEN today for the holiday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Also, we are OPEN every Saturday and Sunday all year long!

Gold pan for fools gold (pyrite) in a water trough, dig for minerals in one of our four caves and keep everything you find, or have a geode cut.

Check out the fluorescent room up in the gallery for cool glow in the dark minerals. It’s like going to a fossil & mineral museum.

Great inside activities for children. Check out our new FREE-state insect exhibit or go on an adventure over Christmas school vacation where you can dig for gems, get a geode cut, or pan for fool's gold.
Special school vacation holiday hours for Discovery Depot are from 1 pm to 5 pm on 12/26, 12/27, 12/28, 12/29, and 12/30. As a friendly reminder, we are open every weekend Saturday and Sunday all year long! No reservations are needed except for birthday parties, which are available.
