Do you know a high school singer interested in experiencing what college is like, along with other musical students?

At University of the Pacific we provide excellent musical experiences during our 2 week program (the last two weeks of June). One of the programs is Choir, which works hand-in-hand with the Musical Theater program.

Below, I have included some of the opportunities:

1 Each singer has the chance to have at least 1 Voice Lesson from a professional Voice Teacher (2 are Faculty; 1 is a Pacific Graduate who just finished her masters in Voice at USC).
2 Students get an introduction to the Chekhov acting method with our Opera Director, James Haffner.
3 Students can choose to participate in Master Classes (some are focused on the voice, some on acting).
4 Heidi Moss Erickson will teach about singing and the brain, as well as use her neuro-focused knowledge to help students learn quickly and efficiently.
5 All of the singers will learn selections for ensemble (musical theater and choral) and perform them in front of the other music students and parents on the final day of camp. Some time will also be spent on a solo piece for voice.
6 Students develop camaraderie with the other students, learn to work together as a team.
7 There is much laughter as well as knowledge gained.
8 In addition to the above opportunities, students are exposed to various musical topics, including, but not limited to: conducting, sight singing, contemporary music, History of Black Women in Music, Careers in Music, Jazz, improvisation and Music Therapy.
9 The students will be lead daily by musicians in the field of Musical Theater, Choral Music and Voice: Carl Pantle, and Monica Adams.

Choir Session 2 We invite singing high school students to cultivate their musicianship and ensemble skills through daily choral rehearsals and workshops. Friends and family are invited to join us for a final performance at the end of the two-week session.
