Hi guys

A few weeks ago I told you I was planning to help raise money for the Martha's Vineyard Animal Shelter. As a photographer I have been inspired by my dog Brodie who teaches me daily to see everything as brand knew, and has helped me to learn to see again.

I plan on making a T-shirt, hooded sweatshirt and a long sleeve T shirt (the one I have on in the photo) along with other possible merchandise. The print on the shirt in the photo below with Brodie, Rocket an I, is already outdated making it a true collector's item! LOL. Samples are coming in and they are amazing quality. I have a site where people can order directly. Not sure if I would buy any in bulk.

I may sell only one shirt but have had fun doing this. Not sure if the attached photos will be the final design. Comments welcomed. Thanks again for all your support. Stay tuned.

PS - the 2028 calendar will likely benefit the Animal Shelter as well.

What do you call a sailboat full of JAWS fanatics???

Alabama!!!

I was told this morning, a sail on Alabama this evening was the culmination of the Return to Amity JAWS Weekend. I was there with you in spirit. Literately from above! These photos are for you. Some pretty cool video to follow.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Happy Father’s Day — Sailing Into the Light
I spent part of last night running around Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven chasing clouds and boats. Alabama and several other boats sailed under amazing skies. As I’ve written only about a thousand times, a beautiful photograph needs both clouds and sunlight. Without the contrast it isn’t the same. Life has turned out much the same way.

For many years, I hated Father’s Day. It gave me a full 24 hours to focus on what I wasn’t.. Those of us who have struggled with alcoholism or addiction know that feeling. And this is my second Father’s Day without my dad. I have a stencil portrait of him behind the register at the gallery, still keeping an eye on me. I catch myself looking at it him and still struggling knowing he is not there to cover my back. And over the years, I’ve learned there is no rewriting the past. The losses and mistakes are all part of the picture. These days, Father’s Day is less about regret and more about gratitude. Gratitude that my children are still in my life. Gratitude for my granddaughters. Gratitude for the chance to become a better person than I once was.

The boats last night seemed to be sailing out of the darkness and into the light.

That feels about right.

Happy Father’s Day, everyone.

It was great seeing the Black Dog Tall Ships "Alabama" back out on the water tonight under full sail. The waterfront is coming back to life!!

Just a reminder - my gallery is closed tomorrow (Sunday) while I head to my granddaughter's birthday in CT. Have a great weekend.

Something new is coming…

Over the past few months, many of you have followed Brodie’s journey through kidney disease, endless vet visits, diet changes, medications, and enough blood and urine tests to make both of us experts. 😊 The good news is she’s doing well. Along the way, she reminded me of something dogs do better than people. They see every day as brand new. Every walk. Every beach. Every sunset. Every person.

That idea inspired me to create something I’ve never done before. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be sharing a project that combines Brodie, photography, Martha’s Vineyard, and a chance to help support the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard.

The first samples are on the way.

Stay tuned.
