Circle Up this week is taking a little excursion -- the Tuxedo Parks & Rec department is holding a reading and workshop by NYC poets Leah V and Patrick Roche on Thurs May 28, 630-830pm at the Tuxedo Town Hall at 1 Temple Dr, Tuxedo NY.
Leah V is a New York City based performance poet, producer, curator, officiant, and performance coach known for her emotionally layered storytelling and immersive live productions blending poetry, music, movement, and multimedia. A Bronx-raised artist holding a Bachelor’s degree in English & Professional Writing, she is the founder and host of Mictastic NYC and has curated and featured in numerous sold-out productions at the acclaimed Off-Broadway Triad Theater. Her original one-woman production The Long Way Home has been praised for its powerful fusion of spoken word, theater, and storytelling. Leah has performed at the legendary Apollo Theater with Poetry Me, Please and at institutions including University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, DePauw University, Lehman College, and Baruch College. She also serves as Poetry Administrator for The RISE Journey, curating DEI-centered poetry and storytelling programming for corporate and educational audiences nationwide.
Patrick Roche is a q***r poet, mental health advocate, and Carly Rae Jepsen enthusiast. He is the author of A Socially Acceptable Breakdown (Button Poetry, 2021), which was named a Finalist for the Hoffer Award. Videos of his work have amassed over 9 million views on YouTube, and his work has been published by or appeared on UpWorthy, Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post, Muzzle Magazine, Thimble Literary Magazine, and his mom’s fridge. Patrick has shared stages with Darryl "DMC" McDaniels of RUN DMC, Pitch Perfect star Brittany Snow, and Abbott Elementary star Tyler James Williams. He currently lives with his husband and their dog in Astoria, NY.
