Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Kirchtag celebration yesterday. Although the rain fell outside, inside The E.O.U.V. our day was filled with light, love, togetherness, and remembrance. We began with a beautiful Mass celebrated by Father Ralph Thomas, during which we honored 18 members of our E.O.U.V. family and friends who have passed, remembering the lives they lived and the lasting place they hold within our community.

The beautiful voices of our Gottscheer Heimatchor filled the hall, while the Gottscheer Blaskapelle entertained us before and during dinner with the music that has been part of our traditions for generations. The afternoon continued with a wonderful performances by the children’s and adult groups of the Gottscheer Tanz und Spielkreis. All of which brought our heritage to life and reminded us how special it is to see these traditions carried forward.

Kirchtag is always a meaningful day at The E.O.U.V.—a time to gather as one, celebrate our Gottscheer heritage, remember those who came before us, and honor the people whose dedication, love, and hard work helped build the community we are so fortunate to be part of today. Thank you to everyone who spent the day with us and helped make this year’s Kirchtag such a beautiful celebration of remembrance, tradition, and community.

Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone tomorrow’s picnic.

Throughout the day, we have remained in close contact with the Illuminating Company and have been informed that power is not expected to be restored until sometime tomorrow afternoon. Combined with the storm damage that our grounds sustained, we simply cannot ensure the safe and enjoyable event that our members and guests deserve.

We know many of you were looking forward to this special day, and we share in your disappointment. We are already working to secure a new date and will provide an update as soon as those plans are finalized.

A sincere thank you to everyone who checked in on us, offered assistance, and spent time today helping with cleanup efforts. Your kindness, support, and dedication to our club during challenging times mean more than words can express.

We also extend our gratitude to all of our members and friends for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We look forward to gathering together and celebrating with everyone very soon.

July 4th Picnic Update:

Unfortunately, the severe weather that moved through our area last night caused damage to the grounds and has left the club without power.

A final update regarding whether tomorrow’s picnic will proceed will be provided by 8:00 PM this evening.
We sincerely appreciate your support, patience, and understanding as we navigate this situation and hope for a positive outcome.

The safety, comfort, and well-being of our members and guests remain our highest priority. We will continue to assess conditions throughout the day and work closely with utility updates before making a final determination.
