​At Agora Gatherings CT, we recently had the quiet privilege of hosting a High English Tea at Hotel Callista to lay a loved one to rest.

​Every detail was customized to honor her memory—from mastering brand-new recipes like our very first batch of fresh lavender scones to building tiered tea towers.

​A truly amazing team of women linked arms to make it happen, bringing in delicate teacups, gathering fresh lavender, and helping create a comforting space where family could sit, remember, and feel wrapped in love.

The calm before the celebration. 🏛️🕯️

There is a specific kind of reverence that comes with prepping a space like Agora. Before the guests arrive and the atmosphere shifts, there is the work: the lighting of candles, the adjusting of the gold accents, and the final touches on a tablescape designed for history.

This room has seen centuries of gatherings—from its days as the Slater family home to its life now as a private sanctuary at Hotel Callista. As a designer, my job is to honor those Industrial Age bones while layering in the elegance that a modern event deserves.

It’s about the details. It’s about the grit. It’s about being a steward of 'The Rose of New England’s' most historic gathering place.

Now, we’re ready for the night to begin.

​There is something so timeless about a palette of mustard, pale yellow, and cream paired with the dramatic flair of vintage taupe draping.

We transformed this space into the ultimate "Baby Brewster" celebration, blending sophisticated elegance with those sweet, nursery-inspired touches.

​Why We’re Obsessed:
​The Ceiling: We went heavy on the taupe fabric to create a soft, romantic canopy that draws the eye straight to that gorgeous hanging greenery installation.

​The Focal Point: A dramatic, tiered cake display set right in front of the fireplace, featuring vintage-style bakes and glowing candelabras.

​The Details: Stacked "BABY" blocks and perfectly wrapped gifts in gold and champagne tones to tie the whole baby shower theme together.

​The Contrast: Sleek black chairs and modern floral stands keep the look grounded and chic.
​Whether it’s a sophisticated wedding reception or a high-end baby shower, this color story is proof that yellow is making a major comeback in the most elegant way possible.
