To kick off our 100th anniversary, we decided to revive one of our favorites, A.R. Gurney’s Sylvia. That decision couldn’t have turned out better. We are so proud of the cast and crew for all the hard work they put in to make this show incredibly special. It was everything that theater should be: engaging, funny, thoughtful, poignant, and most importantly, entertaining.

We would like to sincerely thank all our amazing guests who came out to see it. The audience is as important as any other element. Without you, there is no show.

Congratulations and thank you to all! And can we get one more “Hey, hey, hey!”

She's a pro at herding cats, but this time she's been asked to manage a pack of wild dogs. Meet the wonderful director of Sylvia!

Laura Dunkum (Director) Laura Can’t wait for you to see this fantastic and hilarious show! Laura is no stranger to either side of the stage. Some of her favorite on-stage roles include Domina in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Abby in Arsenic and Old Lace and Helga Ten Dorp in Deathrap. Her directing endeavors include One Before Forty, The Night of January 16th and several short plays. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She is also an expert in bad puns. By day, she is a proofreader for Talbots in Hingham, and by night, she goes on Elvis sightings and works on her belly button lint collection. She would like to thank her family and friends for all their support. To the cast, thank you so much for all of your hard work, you are AMAZING!!!

Every dog has its day and today belongs to this fantastic actress from the cast of Sylvia.

Christine Walsh (Phyllis Cutler) is thrilled to be making her debut with North River Theater. She finally gave in to a lifelong curiosity for acting just last year, appearing in Playhouse Creatures (Mrs. Farley) and The Outsider (Paige) with the Duxbury Bay Players. A South Shore native, Christine grew up immersed in the arts through dance and choral ensembles, which led to a career in arts administration and nonprofit fundraising for cultural institutions across Massachusetts. She plays in a band, Tiny Horse Builders, with her husband, Kevin. They live in Whitman with their daughter, Violet, and their two cats. Christine is so thankful for the unwavering support of her family, friends, and this wonderful community of thespians.
