This September, North River Theater embarks on its 100th season. A century of entertainment rooted in the heart of the South Shore.

Our Norwell home has a story. The building began as a one-room schoolhouse in 1865, and if you look closely at the floor today, you can still see the pattern of plugged holes that once marked the locations of student chairs and desks. In 1927, the community voted to grant the building to the Church Hill Improvement Association, which would eventually become North River Theater, Inc. For a hundred years, this beloved "Gem in the Woods" has been home to plays, musicals, dinners, and memories.

To celebrate this historic anniversary, we've decided to revive a few of our most popular shows. You won't want to miss any of these crowd favorites. Get the season pass and see all three at a discounted rate.

In 1927, the Church Hill Assoc. spawned the Church Hill Players. We have been producing shows at this live theater and performance venue ever since!

Synopsis- A.R. Gurney’s popular comedy focuses on a married couple experiencing empty-nest syndrome. Their lives are upended when the husband brings home a sassy, street-smart stray dog (hilariously played by a human actress) who becomes a hilarious rival for his affection.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Please come prepared with headshot, resume and completed audition form. The audition form can be found on our website.

First read-through will be Sunday, June 14th. Rehearsals will be Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in July. Tech week will be Sunday, September 6th through Wednesday, September 9th and is mandatory.
