Norway Maine Arts Festival

Norway Maine Arts Festival Mark your Calendars for September 12th, 10am-4pm! NMAF is brought to you by Welcome to the 2025 Norway Maine Arts Festival.

Founded in 1967, the Norway Maine Arts Festival celebrates art and community in the Western Foothills of Maine. We are excited to foster a space where the greater community can come together to participate, learn, and support the Maine arts community. Art has proudly been a part of Norway’s downtown history since 1967. The Norway Maine Arts Festival celebrates art and community in the foothills o

f Western Maine and across the state. The festival showcases artisans of all kinds through art and craft vendors, live demonstrations, performances, keynote speakers, musicians, and farmers, all set within the historic buildings of downtown Norway.

This year, the Norway Maine Arts Festival is getting a jumpstart from Lights Out! We are moving the festival to the second Saturday of September, which falls on September 13th. Vendors will be tabling from 10 AM to 4 PM with more event going into the evening. We are bringing back beloved elements of the festival, including juried fine arts and crafts vendors, outstanding performers and musicians, as well as local businesses and non-profits that have been integral to this event. Together, we will celebrate the diverse creative and technical talents of Mainers.

"The role of the artist is to take the vision of beauty that he apprehends in the world and present the best version of it he can to the public."

Seth Goepel finds the thread connecting fine and folk art and pulls them closer together, blurring their elements together in a style all his own.

During the Festival, Seth will set up an easel to showcase the use of blending sumi ink and pastels (last 2 images are examples). Sumi ink is a quick drying ink and the pastel color adds a marvelous contrast to the bold black lines - it's something other people can easily try their hands at.

Seth will be selling his paintings and demonstrating with sumi ink at the 2026 Norway Maine Arts Festival on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm. Come and be captivated by his unique style or try out his sumi ink and pastel exercise!

We're excited to welcome Erica Aubin Wenning to the NMAF roster! Erica is effective at capturing the emotions and moments of Maine's coastal landscapes, blending realism with a subtle surrealism.

"I grew up in MA and earned a BFA in Painting from MassArt. After living in Boston for some years, I relocated further up the New England coast, currently residing in Windham, ME. In school, I had primarily been a figurative artist, but here in Maine I became drawn to the landscape and the endless color it holds. I’m inspired by the duality of the delicateness and perseverance of our natural world, and how this complex romance appears in our lives. I love how a place can connect us to the impressions we’ve made on each other and, in turn, how the place can leave a mark on us. The way light creates fleeting, yet impactful moments is akin to our memories. The color in our surroundings fosters the mood and changes emotion. My work depicts vibrant and serene landscapes, capturing special places that honor our world and the memories we make with the people we love. My style is soft, moody, and realism adjacent, asking you to let down your guard and savor the moment. Throughout it all, I paint to capture a feeling, and the places that transcend the memories we want to keep, the people we are connected to, and the self we are dedicated to honoring."

Erica will be selling original works as well as Giclée print versions at the 2026 Norway Maine Arts Festival on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm. Come say hello to her at her booth and check out her beautiful work!

Introducing Bobby Haskell, a multimedia artist tracing a line through the beauty and mystery of natural structures and a carefully considered human touch, resulting in enigmatic ecological sculptures.

"My sculpture work explores the relationships between built environments and the natural ecosystems that surround and permeate them. By using traditional sculpture materials (e.g., bronze, steel, wood, concrete, glass, stone, and ceramic) in non-traditional ways to mimic natural habitat structures, I am able to create works that bridge the human-made and the natural. Each project seeks to interact with urban nature in different ways. Through extensive research and experimentation I have been able to make sculptures that hold living plants, provide nesting and roosting sites, provide water, and engage in many other interactions with non-human organisms. Exploring these relationships through sculpture can open living windows to potential futures, and become potent examples of the human-made and the natural accommodating each other and thriving."

Bobby will be selling their eclectic pieces at the 2026 Norway Maine Arts Festival on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm. Check out their booth and pick up something truly unique and exciting!

Next up is jeweler Marrick Auger, shaping precious stones and metals into one-of-one pieces closely tied to Maine's identity.

"I began making jewelry in 2005. The process of using fire to transform metal into art has always intrigued me. I find this art form ancient and primitive. Incorporating stones pulled from the earth keeps me connected to nature. This often includes stones polished by the Sea and Maine coast. Working in silver and gold I create bespoke and one of a kind pieces jewelry as unique as the wearer. I have grown with my craft, learning about myself through the evolution of my skills. Constantly exploring my design potential, styles and new techniques."

Marrick will be selling her jewelry at the 2026 Norway Maine Arts Festival on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm. Check out her booth to see what kind of inspired jewelry she'll have!

Welcome to Kristin Fuhrmann Simmons, a watercolorist and teacher.

"I make art to connect — with the natural world, others, and myself. Living on the seacoast of Southern Maine, I am constantly inspired by the ever-changing rhythms of the ocean, the sweep of the tides, and the quiet beauty of the landscape. With its fluidity and unpredictability, Watercolor feels like the perfect medium to capture that sense of movement and wonder. How the pigment flows and settles on paper reminds me of the sea itself — wild, gentle, and full of surprises.

Art-making is both a meditative practice and a joyful exploration for me. Through my work, I seek to express the balance between structure and spontaneity, order and chaos—much like the natural world around me. I am drawn to rich, saturated colors and abstract interpretations of land and water, hoping to evoke a sense of stillness and presence."

Kristin will be conducting a live watercolor painting demonstration featuring wet-on-wet technique — one of watercolor's most enchanting methods, where pigment blooms and flows across water-saturated cotton paper in ways that feel almost alive. You'll guide the audience through painting Maine Heirloom apples, celebrating a beloved local subject with a painterly, accessible approach. Attendees will watch a full painting come together from blank paper to finished piece, and a few volunteers will try their own hand at the process.

Kristin will be selling her prints, cards, and original works at the 2026 Norway Maine Arts Festival from 10am to 4pm. Come check out her work and paint some beautiful heirloom apples with her!

Inspired by the throws of life's unexpected highs and lows, Rebecca weaves together pictures and scenes of sea faring mermaids and oceanic wanderlust. Welcome to our next artist, Alexis Stefano. Combining watercolor with dry media and cut paper elements, Alexis takes much of her inspiration from the drama and majesty of the White Mountains.

"Alexis Stefano is a local self-taught, fine artist. Her multi-disciplinary creative practice combines watercolor, dry media, and cut paper elements— drawing inspiration from the White Mountains where she is lucky to be immersed in the natural world. Alexis's work explores ideas of migration, homecoming, intuition, and memory and conveys her curiosity and wonder for nature.

Originally from the Greater Boston area, Alexis graduated from Northeastern University‘s behavioral neuroscience program in 2017 and later studied graphic design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. She moved to the Mt. Washington Valley in 2021 to be closer to the mountains. She has since become an active member of the arts community and is the executive director of the Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association in Conway, NH."

Alexis will be selling her prints, cards, and original works at the 2026 Norway Maine Arts Festival on Saturday September 12th from 10am to 4pm. If you want a piece that will leave you longing to visit the Whites, check out her booth!
