I feel like I have to make these "open letters to Wizards" post every week...that being said...

Hi Wizards Play Network,

Thanks for the heads-up about the possible (see, inevitable) delay of Reality Fracture Play Boosters.

I do have to admit, though, there’s something almost impressive about receiving an email warning me about delays for the NEXT set when I STILL haven’t received the delayed The Hobbit boosters from the LAST one.

We haven’t even finished waiting for the previous product to show up, and apparently we’ve already moved on to scheduling the next supply-chain crisis.

At some point, I have to wonder if maybe releasing six or seven major Magic sets a year wasn’t actually the greatest idea anyone has ever had.

When every few weeks brings another prerelease, another product wave, another allocation, another promotional push, another set of deadlines, and another opportunity for something to go wrong, eventually the system starts feeling less like a release calendar and more like a conveyor belt somebody forgot to install an OFF switch on.

Meanwhile, stores are the ones explaining to customers why product is late, adjusting events, guessing at allocations, juggling preorders, and occasionally pulling product from our own inventory just to make sure players receive the support they were promised.

I already did that with The Hobbit. I used my own sellable inventory to make sure my prerelease players received proper prizing because the official prize support didn’t arrive.

And I still haven’t received those replacement boosters.

But now we’re already talking about Reality Fracture delays.

Wonderful.

I’m sure, somehow, major conventions, promotional events, influencers, YouTubers, TikTok creators, and everyone else opening product weeks ahead of release will once again bravely overcome these logistical challenges.

The local game stores will just keep refreshing our distributor portals and hoping for the best.

I genuinely appreciate getting advance notice this time. That is absolutely better than finding out after the product simply doesn’t arrive.

But maybe the bigger solution isn’t figuring out how to communicate delays more efficiently.

Maybe it’s slowing down enough that everyone involved — Wizards, distributors, stores, and customers — can actually keep up with the products being released.

Just a thought.

We’re OPEN 12PM–9PM!

With school starting back up, our NBG MTG Summer League for Kids has officially come to an end.

And we just want to say:

THANK YOU.

Thank you to every young Planeswalker who spent part of their summer playing Magic with us.

And thank you to every parent who drove them here, picked them up, encouraged them, helped with decks and made this possible.

We had an AWESOME time.

We watched kids learn.

We watched them improve.

We watched friendships form.

And we learned a few things ourselves about how we can make it even bigger and better.

🎴 We absolutely cannot wait to bring Summer League back next year!
