You've passed by it on Main Street for a while now. Worth sharing it's brilliant, local makers once more!

Greg Hiltbrunner of Hilt's Builds designed and built the thermometer and carved the Diana recreation that sits within it.

Jackie Hug, Oliver St. Clair, and Summer Braddock painted it; three artists from Artists' Open Studio, Inc just across the street!

The colors aren't just an approximation. They were lifted from the actual hues recovered inside the theatre: the lobby ceiling, the foyer, the columns, the original mural.

So this thing on the street isn't just a sign about raising money for this building. It's a piece of this building, reimagined by its neighbors, standing outside asking for help.

Norwalk Arts Center's Discover Your NAC adult arts education programming invites you and your friends to our Holiday Sign and Glitter Ornament Workshop on Tuesday, November 17, from 6:00-7:30 pm at 22 East Main Street in Norwalk.

Create your very own, unique stenciled holiday sign with chalk paint and a wide variety of embellishments AND a one-of-a-kind glitter ornament with fun polyacrylics. With Jody Kashian as your instructor, you'll have lots of fun making friends, learning new techniques, and tapping into your creativity, AND you'll bring home masterpieces great for gifting or for your own home decor! Cost is only $25 per person and space is limited, so register soon!

Area 5th through 8th graders put their creativity in overdrive and made Frankenstein Picasso Portraits at our AIM (Artists in the Making) pop-up this afternoon. How fun to see how differently everyone's final creation turned out!

AIM is held after school every second Friday of the month at Sheri's Coffee House from 3-4:15 and is FREE thanks to generous funding from Norwalk Area United Fund. Our next event is November 13, when we'll work on a mosaic sunflower project.

Area 5th through 8th graders can try their hand at making a Frankenstein Picasso Portrait at our upcoming Artists-in-the-Making (AIM) Program Friday after school at Sheri's. All materials will be provided.

AIM is held every second Friday of the month during the school year from 3:00 to 4:15 pm at Sheri's Coffee House. All projects are free, thanks to generous funding from Norwalk Area United Fund.

Here's the part people keep asking us about.

A group of dedicated individuals and businesses has put up a challenge. If we raise it all, they match it all.

Which matters more than it sounds. We don't have that money... yet!
We have the chance to go and get it, and the chance has a date on it.

Daniel graduated with an Arts Management degree from Baldwin Wallace and has composed four musicals since then!
Two of which received great audience and critic responses at Festival Fringe, one of the largest arts festivals in the world."

His mom, Tiina, tells us, "He's always working on something, but right now he's enjoying a great following on social media with his infamous parody humor. He is moving to England in January to reunite with his creative circle there and continue working on developing musicals."

"He's doing lots of cool things, that's for sure. And I am, indeed, very proud of him."

We are incredibly proud of you, too, Daniel!

Here's the thing — he did every bit of that without having the community and support of a place like Norwalk Arts Center or a local stage like the Norwalk Theatre to start honing his craft even earlier.

He left and found one. Not everyone does.

That is one argument for this building and it has nothing to do with nostalgia. It's for the next kids growing up in Huron County like Daniel.

We have until December 31st to unlock a $650,000 matching donation.

There is a whole generation in this town that has never been inside the Norwalk Theatre.

They have walked past it a thousand times. Parked in front of it. Looked up at the marquee and known, vaguely, that it mattered.

Not one of them has sat down in the dark and watched the lights come up.

We talk a lot about 85 years of memories, and they are worth talking about. But the memories are not the reason to do this.

The reason is the kids who have not made them yet.

Every year this takes is another class that graduates from one of our local schools without ever having been inside. That clock runs whether we are fundraising or not.

We have until December 31st to unlock $650,000 in matching funds. After that, the chance is gone.

Help us get them through the doors. Help us create opportunities for an entire generation that's been missing them.
