Meet Kapok. Massive buttressed roots flare outward into a trunk that splits into broad, horizontal limbs. A cool green wash clings to the bark, turning ridges and hollows into subtle relief. Mottled textures like lichen, smooth patches and pockets of shadow create a tactile map across the surface, and the canopy sits as a dense silhouette against a pale evening sky where small gaps of light puncture the dark foliage. I wanted to hold that quiet power and slow persistence, an otherworldly calm that invites a closer look without demanding it.
