Gail Wurtz Studio

Gail Wurtz Studio Painting is such a true joy! Serving in this way has provided a life-long journey of connection, adventure and learning.

As I paint, I feel the deep calmness of Spirit. I am a painter who appreciates that God is indeed the Artist. As a child in Michigan, I was inspired to paint during walks in the woods, especially in my favorite spot under a maple tree. My husband Jim and I cherish our life in Western Michigan, where we aim to serve others. I’ve learned the power of service in my healthcare roles, now applying that

approach to my art. I’m grateful for my mentor, Attila Hejja, whose teachings continue to influence my work. My paintings, including portraits and landscapes, reflect my faith and my commitment to honoring my clients’ visions. To learn more about me and my work, please visit my website at

Meet Kapok. Massive buttressed roots flare outward into a trunk that splits into broad, horizontal limbs. A cool green wash clings to the bark, turning ridges and hollows into subtle relief. Mottled textures like lichen, smooth patches and pockets of shadow create a tactile map across the surface, and the canopy sits as a dense silhouette against a pale evening sky where small gaps of light puncture the dark foliage. I wanted to hold that quiet power and slow persistence, an otherworldly calm that invites a closer look without demanding it. I wanted to share Seaside Cross today, created to honor God's beauty in nature. A matte black cross sits against a mosaic of backlit clam shells, their concentric ridges glowing in warm cream and pale rose. The simple silhouette grounds the scene while the shells’ subtle color bands and rhythmic lines add a quiet, contemplative warmth. It would make a measured focal point in a living area, study, or entry. See more here: https://www.gailwurtzstudio.com/warehouse-open-edition-prints/art_print_products/img_8686

I've just added Sunshine Splender to the shop. Pink alstroemeria rise above pale yellow carnations and daisies, their forms defined by strong ink-like contours and a warm backlight that turns shadow into luminous planes. Deep green leaves with fine white veins thread between the blooms and set a steady vertical rhythm. The palette stays restrained, soft coral and blush above, mellow lemon beneath, with verdant foliage to anchor the composition. Areas of color have clear edges and subtle texture for a fresh, botanical feel. Light passing through the petals highlights veins and makes translucent surfaces glow, while open space around the stems lets each blossom breathe. I named this one Freebird. A solitary sea duck glides low across cobalt water, black-and-white markings reading like graphic punctuation and a flash of orange at the feet giving a warm counterpoint. The cropped vertical format emphasizes forward motion and turns open sky into a corridor of travel. It feels like calm momentum more than spectacle. I'm sharing Violet to Abstraction. A single periwinkle unfolds five velvety violet petals around a compact dark eye, set against a lattice of white wire and glossy green leaves. The composition balances organic curves with geometric lines and a simplified, high-contrast look that feels graphic and tactile. Subtle purples move from cool indigo to sunlit lavender, while lime-tinged highlights bring a bit of warmth. Small imperfections like a nicked petal edge and a speckled center make it feel immediate and alive. I'm sharing "Golden Glide." It shows a lone waterbird gliding across iridescent ripples, its silhouette and mirrored reflection slicing a clean path through shifting greens and golds. Horizontal bands of moss, lemon, and turquoise pulse with subtle texture while the wake traces a soft V that offers a graphic counterpoint to the water's calm rhythm. The high contrast pares away detail to emphasize form and motion, leaving a quiet, measured feeling.
