When I look back on my life, I’ve done some pretty dumb things. Like really dumb!🤦‍♀️

I think the dumbest of them all is painting over this piece, “Flowers for Henry.”😬

You see, a designer toured my studio, saw the painting, and said the saturated blues are hard to place in an interior.

It was early in my career and I believed her.
I’m a whole lot smarter now - at least I’d like to think so.🤓

Please tell me I’m not the only one!

I haven’t created a pice like this since “Edith”but this composition just poured out of me.

It’s interesting how the brain works - I give myself a break from all things art not because I want to but because I need to - and yet my brain is taking in all of my experiences subconsciously.

When I come back to the studio, all those experiences pour through me and somehow arrange itself onto a canvas.

The best things in life and in art are unplanned. Wouldn’t you say?

There is something captivating about this piece with only blue and white and its composition to pull you in.

This is not my norm, as you well know! I like to use all the colors, but I’m contemplating playing up and down the different hues of blue.

I think I’ll try that. Just adding in deeper blues in the ocean. 🌊 And wherever else my brush takes me. 🧑‍🎨

This painting is called “Only Queens.”
When I was working on this earlier today, I had no idea there were No Kings protests happening right then. 🤔

Notice the center figure has the crown 👸and yet she is one of the women holding up and carrying another woman.

Because real Queens carry each other. Real Queens lift other women up. Real Queens leave their ego at the door. Real Queens are not jealous of another’s wins. Real Queens teach others how to lead. 👑

This is how I protest. 😘
