This post is a very difficult one to write, and not one that we were prepared to write, a sentiment we know is shared by many others this evening.
The Minstrel Players, Inc. are sad to share that one of our long-time Minstrels, one of our very talented and most dedicated scene partners, passed away unexpectedly this weekend. Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
There are no words to truly describe the amazing person Michael Sherwood is, onstage and off. Michael gave his all whenever he stepped foot onto the stage to perform in front of our audiences. Any performer who shared the stage with Michael, knew how lucky they were to have him as a scene partner and the commitment he brought to every role. Even when Michael wasn't in a particular show during a season, often because he had another commitment to another theatre company on the island, he still found time to come see his friends onstage if his schedule allowed, or at least reached out to say "Break a Leg" to his friends and fellow performers. Our family has lost a huge talent, and a wonderful friend. We mourn with the rest of the Long Island Theatre Community who knew and loved Michael, as his loss will leave an empty space on all of our stages and in our hearts.
Michael, we thank you for all of the laughter, support, smiles, tears, and memories through the years. Until we meet again, we will picture you doing what you loved onstage or waiting in the wings. Please know that your spirit and memory will inspire us, always. ❤️💔
