The official Juneteenth flag is red, white and blue, symbolizing that the descendants of enslaved people are Americans and that freedom belongs to everyone.

The star in the center represents Texas, the birthplace of Juneteenth.

The burst around it symbolizes a new beginning and expanding freedom for future generations.

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we recognize both how far we’ve come and the generations that came before us, as well as those that will come after.

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved African Americans were free. This was more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not just a historical event; it is an ongoing journey.

We celebrate the resilience, creativity, and contributions of Black communities while continuing to work toward equity and justice.

❤️💙 Join us on June 19 as we honor freedom through music, community, wellness, and culture.
