Chicago’s cultural leaders gathered at the Harris Theater’s Icons and Innovators Gala, honoring founder Joan W. Harris in a moving and memorable evening. Chaired by Ted Grady and Ross Slotten, Caryn and King Harris, and Nancy and Scott Santi—with honorary chairs President of the Juilliard School Damian Woetzel and Alexandra C. and John D. Nichols President and Chief Executive Officer Lori Dimun—the event raised nearly $1.4 million in support of the theater. The night culminated in a dynamic, Juilliard-curated performance directed by Woetzel, alongside heartfelt tributes, including special messages from President Barack Obama, Governor JB Pritzker, and Senator Dick Durbin, celebrating Harris’s enduring impact on the performing arts.

Transformed into a lush celebration of the seasons, Highland Park’s Atelier by elliestyled welcomed spring with an immersive live floral installation and gorgeous tablescapes that heralded the return of light-filled days. In partnership with One Off Hospitality Catering & Events, the evening featured thoughtfully curated bites and drinks inspired by the spirit of the four seasons. Four acclaimed chefs, Gabe Ausraite, Greg Wade, Perry Hendrix, and Paul Kahan, crafted a series of dishes throughout the night, while sommelier Claire McDonal led nuanced wine and beverage pairings. Guests enjoyed an evening that felt both elevated and intimate. The Atelier space is available to rent and the ever-talented elliestyled team brings the same thoughtful artistry and detail to every celebration.

Launched last summer, Betsy Jane Fragrance brings a fresh, feel-good approach to home scenting with a Core Collection and limited-edition seasonal drops. Hand-poured in small batches in Wilmette, each candle is crafted from all-natural soy wax with clean, perfume-quality fragrance and essential oils for a slow, even burn that gently fills a room. Thoughtfully made, the candles are vegan, dye-free, cruelty-free, and free from harmful toxins, with eco-conscious vessels to match. The 2026 Summer Collection captures the ease of the season with three transportive scents—Dad’s Tomato, Golden, and Patio—ideal for alfresco evenings or sunlit afternoons indoors. Available as 12-ounce double wick candles or a trio of votives, each brings an effortless glow to everyday moments.

Long before Downton Abbey captured America’s imagination, English manor style, beginning at the turn of the 20th century and ending in the 1930s, served as shorthand for refinement, exclusivity, and Old World pedigree for American hoteliers and their architects. While many of those buildings have since disappeared, the Deer Path Inn has not only survived but thrived; it is currently Travel + Leisure’s #1 Resort Hotel in the Midwest. To maintain that level of luxury, the Inn has quietly and continually refreshed its interiors, from a comprehensive 2016 renovation to the recent transformation of its main dining destination—now a bright jewel at the heart of the hotel—The Brasserie. Read all about our Food Editor Monica Kass Rogers’ recent evening at the North Shore’s newest hot spot in “Dinner Date.”

Business founder, two-time author, mom, and wife, Nicki Perchik recently stepped back from her full-time career to pursue a passion project: a book series aimed at the problems of declining literacy rates, rising tween anxiety, and screen dependency. For nearly two decades, Perchik built a career helping people and organizations thrive. As Founder and CEO of The NLP Group, a boutique executive search firm, she partnered with hundreds of companies to recruit leadership talent while guiding thousands of professionals through pivotal career moments. That front-row seat to the hiring process also revealed the common missteps that derail even the most qualified candidates—insights that led her to write A Recruiter’s Truly Simple Guide to Stop F*cking Up When Job Searching & Interviewing. The practical, no-nonsense guide has since become a cornerstone of NLP’s coaching program. More recently, Perchik has turned her focus to a younger audience. She is the creator of The Adventures of Nana Z., a humorous, fast-paced tween series designed to capture attention while reinforcing values like curiosity, resilience, kindness, and giving back. Inspired by her experience as a parent navigating the pull of electronics, the series responds to broader concerns about literacy and mental well-being. With many children struggling to develop a love of reading, Perchik aims to spark early engagement through entertaining, action-driven storytelling. Young readers are even invited to help shape future plots through interactive elements on the Nana Z. website, creating a sense of ownership and connection. Philanthropy is woven into the core of the project. A portion of every book sold supports the local animal welfare organization Tails Together, reinforcing the idea that small actions can have meaningful impact. Perchik is also collaborating with Tails Together on initiatives that encourage children to volunteer and pursue community service—efforts that align with research showing the mental health benefits of helping others. Whether advising executives, guiding job seekers, or inspiring kids to unplug and engage with the world around them, Perchik’s work is rooted in a consistent goal: helping people build confidence, expand opportunity, and develop a lasting sense of purpose.
