Happy World Theatre Day from the Wildwood Catholic Academy Theatre Program! 🎭 From 1930s parfumeries, through the roaring 20s. From East High gymnasiums to under the sea,, haunted houses, Arendelle, and forbidden castles. We traveied to the North Pole, to the Jungle of Nool, and Mr Warbucks’ mansion. We visited colorful first grade classrooms, Man in Chair’s incredible apartment, and Camp Godspell! This year we traveled “Into the Woods” and through the swamp with our favorite fairytale creatures.

Students are creating memories to last a lifetime, while working towards something bigger than all of us. Teamwork, Creativity, problem solving, empathy, and so much FUN. That is what theatre is all about.

It is incredible to look back on all our small but mighty program has accomplished, and look forward to celebrating many more World Theatre Days on the WCA stage! 🎭

Today our seniors took their final bow on the Wildwood Catholic stage. It has been an honor to witness their journey, and I am so grateful for all they have contributed to the growth of our theatre program. They have been leaders and mentors, and the programs success largely has to do with the time they’ve put in to making it so special and always championing for its value in our small school. I have had this group since 8th grade and I truly don’t know what the program is like without them. As I watched so many underclassman weep onstage today, I know they felt the love and support these seniors provided them, and that we are definitely entering a new era without them.

Shrek couldn’t have been a better milestone for these seniors and every night as they sang “what makes us special, makes us strong” it felt like the epitome of who this group truly was. Unique, so special, and wonderfully themselves.

Gathering pictures of their journeys from little fishies in Little Mermaid all the way to their final fairytale chapter in Shrek, was just so amazing to see how much they have learned, and grown as people. From onstage and the backstage peeps who are so dedicated to help to make the magic happen, we couldn’t be more proud.

No matter where their next act takes them, I look forward to cheering them on every step of the way, and will always be grateful for all they have helped create.

As we wrap up a two show day, we can’t help but acknowledge that this is the second time Shrek has taken over the WCA stage! Fun fact: Senior and current cast members, Jackson Doherty, Cippy Cruz, and Rebecca Arcuri were part of the 2018 production, making their WCA debut all the way back in 4th grade under the direction of Mrs. Jenn Snyder. Talk about a full circle fairytale! 💚
