IMPORTANT Information for all music department students regarding ensemble auditions for next school year!!!!!!
A Touch of Class:
Mrs. Wildey will post a call-back list for TOC candidates on Tuesday, April 14th. Students on that list are expected to submit a video of themselves singing and dancing. A music & choreography video will be included in the Google Classroom post with the call-back list. Students will have four days to submit a video of themselves singing & dancing to that music & choreography. Due date: Friday, April 17th by 11:59:59.
All choir lists will be posted by May 1st.
Official Jazz Band Audition Information:
You may complete the audition in one complete video or in several shorter videos. Go at the tempo that is most comfortable to you. Remember, I am listening for many different things in these auditions, including your technique, rhythm, tone/sound, confidence, and attitude. Jazz Band is a fast-paced group, and you must be willing to do some practicing on your own.
When you email the video(s) to me, you must include the following:
-Warm up #1 in your instrument's key in a swung rhythm. Pick one of the 5 possible whole notes in measure 6.
-Lines A and E of Swing Rhythms. Repeat both lines twice.
-A Bb Blues Scale, whatever rhythm and tempo you choose.
-An F Blues Scale, whatever rhythm and tempo you choose.
-Yardbird Suite from A to "Break" (just before solos). Please take the repeat. Whatever tempo you choose.

Drumline & Guard:
Official Auditions for the Marching Pride of Jennings County guard and drumline will take place during the first two days of Rookie Camp, the 16th and 17th of July. Students should sign up for the Concert Band Class with the understanding that your schedule may change if your audition is unsatisfactory.
Drumline auditionees: be prepared for performing on each of the following instruments: Snare, Bass, Tenors, and Cymbals.
Guard auditionees: be prepared for choreography work, general athletics work, and marching practice.
Remember, I am listening/watching for many different things in these auditions, including your technique, rhythm, tone/sound, confidence, and attitude.
More information to follow by letter, which will be sent home in June to all students who are enrolled in the Concert Band Class. Please contact Ms. Kibbler @ [email protected] if you are not enrolled in Concert Band and you would like to be.
Chamber Orchestra:
Directions for audition videos are posted on Google Classroom under the “Playing Video” category. Students have until May 6 to submit their videos.
For all Music Department Students:
It’s recommended that students create their audition videos using Screencastify so the files automatically are in their Google Drive. You can use your cell phone if necessary, but be aware that file sizes may cause issues with submitting videos to Drive or Google Classroom. If you have no internet or limited internet access at home, we encourage you to utilize community WiFi hotspots.
