Today I had the honor of attending the Senior Project Presentation of our amazing Drama Club Music Director for the past two years, Aria. As part of her presentation, she asked two of our cast members, Luke (Gaston) and Jonathan (Lefou) to perform a song, Gaston Reprise, to share with those in attendance an example of how confident and talented they sounded due to Aria‘s musical direction. Luke and Jonathan haven’t performed this together since March!! I am forever grateful to Aria for choosing being our Music Director as her Senior Project, and asking me to be her mentor. She volunteered countless hours to direct 41 elementary students in singing Broadway-style songs. Last year she also directed the music for Aladdin, Jr. We are so grateful for all of her dedication and hard work and will miss her terribly next year as she goes to college. Thank you, Aria, for everything!
Fun fact: Aria was in the first performance we did of Beauty and the Beast, Jr. in 2017, when she was in 3rd grade. She was cast as a fork. 9 years later, she was our Music Director. 🌹

A special video in honor of this incredible sixth grade cast! Heartfelt and meaningful, and as it has been for the past three years working together, it ends with a laugh (although to be honest, there were tears while filming it). I will miss you!

How do you put into words how it feels when something you worked on for 5 1/2 months is over? How do you express the immense pride and joy of watching 41 young actors come together as an ensemble and complete 5 performances in 3 days, persevering through stage jitters, exhaustion, the usual stage hiccups, with confidence and poise in front of their families, friends, teachers, and complete strangers? The growth and commitment it takes to participate in this genre of performance art, especially at this age, is nothing short of astounding! These cast members, in grades 4-6, spent 23 weeks, 67+ hours, half of the school year, to bring this production to life. PHENOMENAL!!!! It has been such a fun journey with them! Congratulations cast of Beauty & the Beast, Jr.!!! Next up: Cast Party for our final farewell.

I don’t often get good pictures from backstage, but this one makes me chuckle as I was focusing on Maurice, sitting in the Beast’s chair, holding the rose as if he was worrying about Belle, but then there’s Gaston looking at himself in the mirror.
