Engaging your scapula en pointe while working on the down control. We “tied” the students arms to assist them in thinking about the back. Slow and steady wins the race! Nice work!!!!!🩰

“In ballet, a bo***ée (short for pas de bo***ée or pas de bo***ée couru) refers to a series of tiny, fast, even steps taken while en pointe (on the tips of the toes) or demi-pointe (on the balls of the feet) with the legs held tightly together.“

There’s just something about gaining the trust of a little person. These fickle humans may have their tights on wrong, a clip in their hair they don’t like or simply it’s 4pm. But when the planets align and after realizing they can trust you and you keep going and stay calm, they open up and the smiles are genuine. Kids don’t fake it and the accomplishment of having them run into their dance circle after realizing you won’t bite is priceless. 🥹💜💙

Every one of our classes is taught to develop strength, alignment and technique in dancers. Our Artistic Director is a certified PBT trainer and uses this methodology to promote core strength and stability with proper weight placement and alignment; progressing at each individual dancers level. So whether you’re at the standing at the ballet barre, perfecting the proper pirouette in center or flexing your core on the floor, you’re receiving the training you need to enhance yourself as a dancer.

JAM Dance Academy is continually accepting registration! Email us at [email protected] for more information or visit our website at jamdanceacademy.net.

Sometimes it’s about individual training; watching the student slowly demonstrate their steps to understand their weaknesses. Simply telling a student to fix an issue without explaining how to begin to fix it is a disservice to the child. Here, we have a student who has been with us for a number of years who naturally has, fallen arches, a bit of a hypertension in one knee and tight hamstrings and calves. While we are establishing proper dance techniques, this child still has these issues to also perform in other sports. She loves track so we are working with her to understand her landing when dancing and running so her knee properly maintains over her foot. Her tight hamstrings keep her from maintaining turnout so we have been working on inner and outer thigh strength, as well as lifting with her ilio psoas muscle. Because of her hard work, her foot strength is soaring and her understanding of her alignment is starting to show. What we appreciate as educators is her parent’s openness to listen and fit her with proper arch support. We may teach proper dance and body techniques, but students must live lives too and being aware of our individual students needs is key. 🔑
