Open Mic Nite in North Platte

Due to the hub-bub and other activities during Nebraskaland Days, there will not be an Open Mic Nite in June. We'll plan to have a great time on the fourth Friday in July -- July 24.

We're taking nominations for a theme for the July get-together. Just post it here or send a direct message.

The next open mic will be held on this coming Friday, May 22. (Note the date - the 4th Friday of the month.)
The theme(s) will be Springtime Fun, celebrating the season, and Patriotism as Memorial weekend arrives.
We provide a keyboard, sound system and coffee. Feel free to bring cookies along with your light heart and good will. $5 donation appreciated.

We had a great Open Mic Nite Friday, with several fine performances. About 50 people attended. The audience grew in size as the night went along.
Thanks to everyone who attended and everyone who performed.
The next open mic will be held on Friday, May 22. (Note the date - the 4th Friday of the month.) The dual theme will be springtime fun and patriotism as Memorial weekend arrives.

Open Mic Nite is coming on Friday night April 24.

There is no particular theme this time. Do what you feel. Come to see what the performers choose.

We had a good night last time, with tributes to Johnny Cash and other great musicians. About 50 people attended, including a father-son team who stopped to sing a song on a trip from New York to California.

We'll start at 7 p.m. and go until 9:30 or so. We'll have a keyboard, coffee and water at no charge. Feel free to bring cookies. $5 donations at the door are appreciated. It's in the party room of the North Platte Senior Center, 901 E. 10th.

Our evening of folk music from the 50s, 60s and 70s was so much fun last fall that people have been asking when we'll do it again...
Here it comes on Friday, April 17 -- live acoustic music that ties back to earlier days and speaks to the heart and head at the same time.
Award winning musician Jim Calhoun will return along with George, John and this time, Alasha. We have put this show together with songs from the best of the era. There will be plenty of sing-alongs too.

UPDATE for friends and neighbors, near and far!

After too-long of a break, we will once again have an Open Mic Nite on Friday, Jan. 30, from 7-9:30 p.m.

It will be at the North Platte Senior Center, which is at 900 E. Tenth in North Platte.

We recently had a successful Folk Music Nite in at the center. We set lights and sound for a cozy atmosphere. Eighty-five people attended and it seemed like everyone left with a smile.

The standard guidelines apply. Everyone who wants to perform gets five minutes if they want it. After the first round, we will have another round if time allows.

Poems, prose prayers, promises, songs, jokes, dances, etc. are welcome. Keep it family friendly and don’t start any fights. Otherwise, the microphone is open.

Bring your creativity and be good to one another.

We will supply a keyboard, a cajon (hand drum) and tambourine, as well as coffee and lemonade. Feel free to bring a snack, plate of cookies, etc. Just not too much.

A $5 donation is appreciated.
