“I started dancing at The Dance Factory in 2003, we were in a little building downtown and I remember loving all the leotards and skirts on display in the front windows. I was nervous starting, and my first recital I don’t think I even looked up from the ground, I kept with it though and fell in love, I quit soccer, softball and volleyball so I could focus more on dance. I spent my childhood and teenage years in the studio, growing up there. I have so many memories and stories and I’m glad I got the chance to be taught by Becky, Barb and all the wonderful assistants thru the years. I work with children now and I love being able to give the ones who are taking dance classes tips and pointers to help progress their skill and maybe even surprise their teachers a little.”

“I started my girls in Dance at the age of 4 and 3. Dance was such an important part of my life and I wanted my girls to experience it too. They absolutely loved dancing and recital. Dancing at the dance factory brought them such poise and posture and how to control their body movements. They both dances on the School Jr High Dance team and the High School team. Ali continues to dance and I am blessed to coach. Many practices Miss Becky’s techniques comes to our minds. I wouldn’t have traded all the nights at the studio and the friendships that were made.”

“I started at the Dance Factory in 2002. Becky really gave me confidence and believed in me as a dancer. I danced in college a little bit but really got busy with life and out dance away until Starstruck Dance Academy(where my son was attending classes) was looking for teachers. Thanks to the foundational training I had a DFNP, it reignited that passion I hadn’t felt in a long time. I am forever grateful to Becky and everything she taught me.”

“I started dance classes at 3 to give me something to do that was special for me during a tough time in my life. Through all of the challenges, dance and the Dance Factory have been home away from home where I could get all my worries and fears and stresses out and just be me. I love Miss Barb and Miss Becky (and all the other teachers too) so much for always being there for me and loving me for me.“

“I owe so many of my successes in my life to The Dance Factory and the mentorship of Becky Smith. I remember seeing Becky’s advertisement in the Miss Nebraska  Program book before she opened and I was over the moon excited. I went to registration with my mom and I signed up for every class I could. I had no confidence and no desire to wear tights and a leotard, but I wanted to dance. Fast forward three years and I had learned not only how to dance, but I had competed on stage, performed a solo, learned how to do my hair and makeup, gained confidence and poise, and most importantly I gained a mentor and a friend who has been there for every step of my life. I can honestly say that without the experiences and personal growth that I gained through the dance factory that I would not have had the skills or confidence to become a pharmacist, a speaker, an executive director of a statewide program, or the “dance mom” I am today. The greatest joy has been the last 9 years, witnessing my daughters perform on the same recital stage and receive the same mentorship that changed my life. Forever grateful and forever a supporter of the Dance Factory and all it does to change young people’s lives forever.”

“I danced at The Dance Factory from 5th grade through about 8th grade, and during that time, I was lucky enough not only to take many classes but also to teach some myself. The Dance Factory was more than a studio—it was a place where I could truly be happy, even through some of the hardest times in my life. It taught me resilience, kindness, and how to accept criticism with an open heart and a light spirit. Even after moving on and continuing to dance elsewhere, the lessons I learned and the sense of community I felt there have always stayed with me. I’m so grateful they’re sharing dancers’ stories, and it means so much to be part of this reflection and celebration. Thank you, Dance Factory North Platte—you helped shape who I am today. Thank you, Miss Barb and Miss Becky.

“Starting dance at just four years old shaped who I am today. What began as a tiny dancer’s dream turned into a passion, a purpose, and a path that led me to my middle school dance team. I’m so grateful for the friendships I’ve built, the memories I’ve made, and the way dance continues to bring joy into my life.”

“I joined Dance Factory when I was 9 years old. I wanted to do baton after watching Boston (Peterra) perform at the Miss Nebraska pageant. I really love Miss Krystal, she is a great teacher. After my first recital and watching the other girls perform, l started to take interest in jazz, so my mom signed me up for a jazz class the following year, and I also advanced to the next level in baton. Miss Tallyn is an amazing teacher and always gave me compliments. I really enjoyed my short time at the Dance Factory and was happy I was able to do baton, something my mom used to do when she was my age.❤️”

“I started dance 11 years ago and it was the best thing my mom could have put me in. The studio gave me so many amazing teachers and so many amazing friends, and so many great opportunities. I made so many great memories through the studio that will never be forgotten. It was always so fun waiting to see what our costumes and music would be for recital. My heart was broken when I found out the studio was closing because that had been my second home and second family for years. I will truly miss the dance factory and everything it has done for me! The dance factory gave me a chance to express my sassy self on stage and I’ll never find a place my heart has loved more. It was an amazing 11 years 🤍”
