I have spoken about this at length several times but it always seems to have this resurgence every 4-6 months. If you have any sort of following, please don’t use it as a platform to degrade the rest of the community by selling gimmicks and AI, then call them idiots for not buying the snake oil you are trying to sell.
When I drove race cars, it was shocks, a chassis builder, you name it. They they charged astronomical prices for it. When some were racing on a budget, that just wasn’t an option. When it became the standard, they had to stop. It lowered car counts and fan counts. It hurt race tracks. 2 of the 3 I raced at are now closed permanently because of many reasons but lack of fans and cars was a huge factor.
In parallel with 3d printing, it’s gimmicky glue sticks for $40 and ai rendering software that’s $50 a month. It hurts the people who are trying to make it happen on whatever scale they are operating. But you price them out, and the community will fade.
For those who they are targeting, you are doing fine. You don’t need a $40 glue sticks or ai software. Be bad at it for a while and you’ll learn and get better. Sucking at it is part of the journey.
Ok off my soap box.
