The inspiration for this piece was what drives painters to paint…Robert Henri, in his Spirit of Art , says that “the painter looks for what she loves, and then she tries to capture it”. I am thinking as I read that seemingly obvious sentence that that is precisely how I have walked around in the visible world since I was very young: seeing and composing images that do something to my heart. We live at the shared edges of water and land…where the beautiful and linear mangroves form perfect positive/negative shape studies, where their coastal hues shelter marine life… This piece has been hanging around (No pun here!) for awhile, though this painting has been a favorite of mine…I found this client in my working space ‘visiting’ the mangrove pieces still available. Happily, this vibrant color-soaked Mangrove Party has found a home, sold to this individual who ‘gets’ my story and my perception..who sees these arrestingly beautiful trees on our coastlines as I do. Happy painter, happy art-owner!

A favorite memory and painting of mine of the Garden Key, Dry Tortugas shore went to a new home in Jupiter Fl…shown and purchased at the Village Art Studios in Tequesta, Florida My hope is that this image will invoke the memories of that amazing place…the isolation, the windswept foliage..the ever present population of the sooty terns…

Maybe if you actually live amongst hundreds of Palm trees you might not get all excited about this image…but still I do, and I do see these towering symbols of coastal wonderment everywhere and still I am thrilled with the vision of these trees happily soaking up perfect sunshine under the bluest Florida sky but also glittering with rain and even blowing in tropical storm winds…who can’t love these?? This tree stands down near our marina, painted by me in oils on a 24 x 72 inch gallery wrapped canvas, perfectly ready for someone that may want to bring the coastal outside inside… DM for purchasing
