Closing in on half a TRILLION (that’s with a ‘T’) streams for music worked on at Criteria.

Tracks, overdubbed, mixed or mastered here. So far most credits thru 2016 added, but still have a long way to go for those of you keeping track at home.

In 1969, Jim Morrison described a future of music that sounds strangely familiar today.

During an audio interview with journalist Jerry Hopkins, The Doors frontman reflected on where popular music might be heading next.

He describes a future musician working largely alone, surrounded by machines & electronic equipment, creating music while singing or speaking over it.

Listening today, it’s difficult not to think of the DJ, electronic producer and bedroom producer, where one person can effectively become an entire band using technology.

Morrison died just two years later in 1971, long before synthesizers, sampling, drum machines, hip-hop and electronic dance music would transform popular culture.

He never got to see just how close parts of his vision would come to reality.

I nearly forgot about this! Andy and Barry were next door at Criteria Studios in Miami while Eagles were working on Hotel California and they brought me over to check out Andy’s solo record. I dug the tunes and then everyone looked at me as if I should do something… so I did! Did the solo on “Love is Thicker than Water” (uncredited) and played lead on “I Just Want to Be Your Everything” in 1977 and they both went to #1! What a beautiful soul and talent taken too young. Thanks for the memories
