We’ve *almost* made it through August in Arkansas - send it off in style with a rare Saturday night Ease Supper Club - Dante’s Inferno, Part II.

The joke there is obvious but what is the menu, you ask? Five courses, five circles, this time with a distinct Southeast Asian-leaning flavor profile. Yes, that's Italian literature meets Sour/Salty/Sweet/Hot/Umami.

Expect a chilled dish with real heat hiding underneath for Wrath, a little flame for Heresy, and a course for Violence built around things pounded, torn, and shredded into something beautiful. Then we come to Fraud, our most ambitious course yet, and one we just can’t explain in advance. Out last circle lands us somewhere cool and sweet to close.

Five courses, thoughtfully paired with wine, and not a single minute of it will feel like punishment. Promise.

Join us for an evening that treats a very serious piece of literature very unseriously — and treats you, and your palate, very well.

Last night was Part I of our August theme - Dante’s Inferno - and it was such a vibe. Each course was inspired by one of the nine circles of Hell and this one was my favorite: Lust.

We took gorgeous, fragrant cantaloupe grown down the road in Grady, shaved it into thin ribbons and then mated it to prosciutto. Then we created a wave out of that union of flavors, to echo the endless wind that is used to torture the L***y sinners. We set off the floral/fruity/fatty/salty flavors with a ā€œslawā€ using a selection of our house made pickles: cucumber but also green apple, radish, plum, and watermelon rind. It was beautiful and delicious and the perfect embodiment of the theme, if I do say so myself. šŸ‘

Part II of the Inferno will carry us through the remaining circles of Hell: Wrath/Sloth, Heresy, Violence, Fraud and Treachery, all united by Southeast Asian flavors and inspirations. Think chilled seared tuna with spicy yuzu-sesame sauce, charred flank steak with a hardy orange cheong glaze, and a truly shredded/pounded dish for Violence.

I can’t share any more without ruining it - join us on Saturday, August 29th to experience a meal like nothing you’ve seen before.

Arkansas in August already feels like a descent into hell. So we built a whole month around it, with the help of some 14th Century Italian literature. šŸ˜… Intrigued? Maybe a little scared? Take my hand and read on:

Our Dante's Inferno Supper Club series runs across two nights this month. Part I, next Thursday August 13th, takes you through Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, and Greed: think coconut lime shrimp ceviche, a seared scallop swimming in bottarga butter, hot water cornbread piled with crab. Night two goes darker, with a Southeast Asian leaning flavor profile through Wrath, Heresy, Violence, and Fraud, including one course you must experience to believe. Both nights land on Cocytus, the frozen circle, for something cool to close.

Five tasting courses, with each course with wine paired by Sommelier Spencer English or our non-alcoholic options.

And for those of you with food allergies or special diets - please reach out! We can almost always accommodate with advance notice. Just email hello@easesupperclub with details before purchasing your tickets.

Sinners in Dante’s Inferno get a punishment that either mirrors the sin or mocks it with its opposite - he calls it contrapasso. With the Ease flair for the ambitious + ridiculous, we stole the logic of contrapasso and used it on wine pairings.

Join us August 7th for our Inferno Sip Session, where Spencer and I will walk you through four wines and their food pairings. Like Dante’s contrapasso, each pairing will either match and amplify each other or oppose and contrast. Poetic justice, one pour at a time. šŸ·

Arkansas in August already feels like hell. Might as well drink our way through it with purpose.
