So this is fun, 🌜
This painting made the next cut in the ARC Salon competition. Which means, as I understand it, an image of it along with all the other semi finalists will go to the moon in a Lunar Codex (which is a kind of time capsule) on one of three NASA missions.

The ARC Salon is a pretty big deal, international art competition and it's always nice to become a finalist! (even better to get an award and have the piece shown in NY and Barcelona!) But the competition has become so very expensive I only entered one this year. Glad it's a finalist.

For health reasons I’ve decided to eliminate solvents from my studio. The biggest concern for me was how to do my favorite kind of underpainting .
I was so happy to discover that if the surface is smooth enough, the paint picks up easily with a brush and a rag. This painting of a marshy meadow is on a panel with 10 coats of acrylic gesso, then sanded to a fine finish with still enough tooth to hold the paint. A new trick I learned from Anthony Waichulis 😊
