Los Angeles, CA (October 2026) Write Act Repertory is pleased to announce its fourth annual Cringe Festival 2026. VEILS OF THE UNKNOWN, World Premiere Series of six one-act plays with special hosts, for a limited run of eight performances.

Step into the shadows of imagination with VEILS OF THE UNKNOWN, a chilling and thought-provoking anthology of six original one-act plays making their world premiere. Each tale explores the uncanny, the unsettling, and the otherworldly—where reality bends and the unknown takes center stage. From psychological horror to speculative fiction, VEILS OF THE UNKNOWN invites audiences to confront the fears that lurk just beyond the veil. Each play is a standalone journey into the macabre, yet together they form a tapestry of dread, wonder, and revelation. (18+)

LOGLINE: Two sleep-deprived strangers trapped in a sleep clinic for overnight observation break protocol by talking to each other,
revealing that their nightmares, as well as their dreams, may be more similar than they believed.

LOGLINE: A serial killer goes through an identity crisis on Halloween and ends up having therapy with a seemingly unbothered
girl in a Donald Duck costume that he has sort of kidnapped.

HONEY, I’M DEAD

LOGLINE: During the live taping of a beloved sitcom’s Halloween special, a supporting actor is possessed by the vengeful spirit
of a cast member who died onstage ten years earlier.

OTHER INFORMATION: Run-time is approximately 110 minutes with intermission. Refreshments will be served.

DESCRIPTION: A collection of standalone journey’s into the macabre, yet together they form a tapestry of dread, wonder,
​and revelation brought to life (or death) by 5 writers, 7 directors, 13 actors and 1 host, hopefully not in a pear tree.

NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 25 2026) --MARILYN EXPOSED, a bold new musical, explores the public mythology and private complexity of Marilyn Monroe — an empowered woman the world often saw, and still sees, as little more than a s*x symbol.

The musical opens with Marilyn’s sudden death, and her life is explored as it becomes a detective’s investigation into the cause. MARILYN EXPOSED offers a provocative reexamination of Monroe’s achievements, struggles, and relationships, including some that involve people who are possible persons of interest in her death.

“Through music, movement, and dramatic storytelling, we move beyond the caricatures to explore Monroe’s intelligence and drive as an artist, entrepreneur, and woman navigating fame, power, and personal reinvention,” said playwright Cornell Christianson, who also coproduced with lead producer John Lant.

Added Lant, "We're inviting audiences to reconsider the woman behind the image, and the cultural forces — and people — who shaped the story of her life, and her death. Our production is based on eyewitness accounts.”

Hi All -

Today Friday 6/26/26 EASTERN STANDARD TIME - I will also be talking about a plethora of topics as I guest host a Friday Gathering for TRU (Theater Resources Unlimited) Networking Event with insights to help early career producers, self-producers and learn a thing or two from some of you. I'll talk about my experiences in the changes we face today as well as talk about the mounting of one my newest Off-Broadway Show "Marilyn Exposed" (10 years) and also our opening of our newest original world premiere one-act show in LA at our space in NOHO "Hot Summer Musicals !"

Ten New York Premiere One-Act Festival from Write Act Rep’s Los Angeles Playwrights braving the theatre frontiers of moving East to NYC.

New York, NY (January 2026) Write Act Repertory is pleased to announce its inaugural NYC Theater Festival, WEST MEETS EAST. A collection of 10 New York Premiere one-act plays written by various Write Act Repertory West Coast Playwrights.

Laugh, cry and rejoice in this exploration of the human experience through tales of suspense, heartache, misdeeds and love. This Series with 5 plays each night and performances by 2-4 different cast members.

Produced by Write Act Repertory’s Producing Artistic Director John Lant with NYC Artists-in-Residence, WEST MEETS EAST is a one-act festival featuring 10 short plays. The show opens January 18 and runs through January 25, 2026. Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30pm, Saturday at 3:00pm and 7:30pm with Sundays at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.

Steve's Christmas Day: After receiving an unexpected gift on Christmas Eve, Steve spends Christmas Day with his estranged mother.

The Island of Mr. Lebeau: A group of strangers gather on a lonely island retreat, expecting to be part of a new reality series. Instead they find themselves fighting for their lives.

Musings: Two smug art fans who think they're better than the other discover they're more similar than they originally thought.
