WEST MEETS EAST - A Theatrical Experience
Ten New York Premiere One-Act Festival from Write Act Rep’s Los Angeles Playwrights braving the theatre frontiers of moving East to NYC.

New York, NY (January 2026) Write Act Repertory is pleased to announce its inaugural NYC Theater Festival, WEST MEETS EAST. A collection of 10 New York Premiere one-act plays written by various Write Act Repertory West Coast Playwrights.

Laugh, cry and rejoice in this exploration of the human experience through tales of suspense, heartache, misdeeds and love. This Series with 5 plays each night and performances by 2-4 different cast members.

Produced by Write Act Repertory’s Producing Artistic Director John Lant with NYC Artists-in-Residence, WEST MEETS EAST is a one-act festival featuring 10 short plays. The show opens January 18 and runs through January 25, 2026. Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30pm, Saturday at 3:00pm and 7:30pm with Sundays at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.

CALENDAR INFORMATION: Run-time is approximately 95 minutes with intermission.

SHOW: WEST MEETS EAST – A Theatrical Experience (2026) - Ten original one-act tales of the human experience by Los Angeles Writers and Composers.

DESCRIPTION: A Collection of Ten New York Premiere One-Act Tales by 10 writers and composers with 39 actors from Write Act Rep’s Los Angeles Playwrights Group braving the theatre frontiers of moving East to NYC with New York Actors.

SCHEDULE: This Series performs 5 plays each night with performances by different casts.

Movin In, Movin On: Upon moving in together, two lovers discover their baggage may be too much to unpack.

The Weight at the End Of The World: A group of four friends gather for their last day on Earth. The group is reminded of the good times, the tragedies, and some hidden secrets are revealed.

Steve's Christmas Day: After receiving an unexpected gift on Christmas Eve, Steve spends Christmas Day with his estranged mother.

The Island of Mr. Lebeau: A group of strangers gather on a lonely island retreat, expecting to be part of a new reality series. Instead they find themselves fighting for their lives.

Musings: Two smug art fans who think they're better than the other discover they're more similar than they originally thought.

Destination Wedding: Luke and Cassie have planned the perfect destination until it all falls apart and they turn to their parents to fix everything.
