DETAILED INFO BELOW:
Decades ago, the core challenge faced by video game audio professionals was how to use a tiny set of resources to create something worth listening to. Today, they often face an updated version of that challenge. There is a greater set of resources, but an expectation that their game will have a sonic complexity and depth greater than the sum of its parts.
Join, President and Founder of Rocket Sound, Tom Hays, and an illustrious 3 panelists: Senior Audio Producer at 343 Games at Microsoft Becky Allen; Executive Audio Director at Electronic Arts (EA Studios) and Owner of Durity MediaWorks Gordon Durity; and Creative Director, Sound Designer & Mixer for Trailers, Cinematics & Commercials at Source Sound Inc. Charles Deenen, whose careers have bridged the time between the old and the new. They will be covering the gamut from Chiptunes and hand-compressed 4-bit samples to cutting-edge sports crowd systems. They'll discuss orchestral music systems, high-end cinematics, and their combined century-plus of experience that spans much of the history of video game sound.
How can you stay fresh in an ever-changing industry? What things might you want to know if you're entering game audio as a newb or transferring in from a different medium? Most importantly: confirm what is it that you know that you know and figure out what you know that you don’t know. Tune in to get answers, fill in the gaps and hear their thoughts about how the field has changed and, maybe how it hasn't.
Attendees may submit questions in advance at [email protected] or through the Q & A. The live Q & A is only available to registered attendees, so register today!
