Join Sam Taylor for a playful afternoon of watercolor as we explore the wonderfully weird world of vintage jack-o’-lanterns, inspired by antique Halloween illustrations and ephemera.

We’ll start by painting a jack-o’-lantern together, using it as a way to explore watercolor technique, pigment, color mixing, layering, texture, and patterns/textures/other illustrative details thrown into the mix.

Once we’ve built that foundation, we’ll loosen things up and learn how to design our own - playing with different pumpkin shapes, eyes, noses, mouths, and expressions to create a jack-o’-lantern with a personality all its own.

There will be heaps of technique, pigment, and vintage Halloween inspiration to pull from - and fair warning, these little faces are kind of addictive to paint.

Best for determined beginners through intermediate students. All materials and instruction are included, along with some snacks to keep us going.

Join me for two fun and *determined* beginner- intermediate friendly watercolor classes on July 16 & 17. Take one class or both! Thursday's workshop serves as a great primer for Friday's class, as we'll be building on many of the same techniques and concepts.

Thursday, July 16 | Mini Atmospheric Landscapes
$48 + tax (includes all materials, instruction, and some yummy treats!)

We'll create a series of small, moody watercolor landscapes while exploring techniques for capturing atmosphere, distance, light, and mood. These mini paintings are perfect for practice, study, gifting, or framing, and are a wonderful introduction to watercolor for beginners.

Friday, July 17 | Hot Gull Summer
$48 + tax (includes all materials, instruction, and some yummy treats!)

Let's celebrate our favorite coastal troublemakers with a whimsical watercolor illustration featuring a flock of seaside birds. We'll use a variety of techniques to paint sky, water, texture, and atmosphere while creating a folksy coastal scene full of personality. The finished piece is something you'll be able to continue practicing and customizing long after class.

Whether you're brand new to watercolor or looking to loosen up and have some creative fun, I'd love to paint with you!

Hi Hi! Sam is teaching TWO watercolor classes coming up next week! Monday and Tuesday! (With some holiday flair!)

Join us on Monday, Dec. 15th // 11:00am - 1:30pm
for a festive watercolor class inspired by medieval Christmas imagery and the elegance of winter swans.

We’ll explore simple illustrative watercolor techniques that are meant to challenge and inspire - perfect for determined beginners + and intermediate students.

Light seasonal snacks will be provided.

Tuesday, Dec. 16th - We're using watercolors to paint some Christmas fish! (with a twist!). There will be patterns, inspiration, and festive snacks aplenty.

Both classes are from 11am-1:30pm - $48 (includes all materials)
