Osmos. On duty. 🐕

He sleeps out with the babies every night so nothing with teeth gets close. Coyotes, raccoons, the occasional bobcat. Osmos has an important job and he does not take days off.

🍄 MUDKITCHEN MONDAYS are on, every Monday, 4:30 to 5:30pm.

The mud kitchen is open and the garden is fair game. Kids forage ingredients, mix up mud pies and potions, and get thoroughly filthy. No set agenda. Our farm school teacher is there to keep it rolling.

Ages 2-11, drop in anytime. Once school starts this is a very good way to burn off a Monday. Pack a full change of clothes, we are not exaggerating.

🌿 And it is FORAGERS WEEK, the last week of summer farm school. Little Sprouts head out with baskets to see what the farm and the woods are handing over this time of year. Forage potions, nature wands, and one hard rule about not eating anything until Farmer Janna says so.

August 26th, 27th and 28th · 9am to 1pm · drop-in spots open

These are the final three days of summer. If you are thinking about fall and want to try it first, this is the week.

Hay folks! A heads up about the farm calendar. 🐐

School starts soon, which means our weekday animal encounters are winding down. From here on, weekends are the main way to come see everybody.

🐷 WEEKEND ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS
Come meet the goats, sheep, alpacas, Kune Kune pigs, bunnies, chickens and ducks. Feed them, brush them, sit down in the middle of it and let them come to you.

🐷 PIGLET SNUGGLE SESSIONS
You sit down, we hand you a piglet, the piglet complains for about eight seconds and then falls asleep in your lap. It doesn’t get any cuter than this 🤣

🌿 PRIVATE ENCOUNTERS
Book the farm for your group. Birthdays, family visits, or a bunch of friends who want the place to themselves.

Tickets are required for everyone coming through the gate, adults included. Closed toed shoes. Outdoors, rain or shine.

Fall enrollment is OPEN. Both programs. 🍂

🌿 LITTLE SPROUTS · ages 3-6
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays · 9am to 1pm
September 9th through October 30th
Drop-off, OR make it a bonding experience - one parent or guardian stays and plays at no charge. Younger siblings welcome with registration and accompanying parent.

🌾 JUNIOR FARMERS · ages 6-11
Fridays · 2:00 to 6:00pm · after early release
September 11th through October 30th

Eight weeks of the best season we get out here. The garden hands over squash and the last of everything else, wool starts coming back in on the sheep, and the mud turns back into the good kind of mud.

Plus every animal your kid already wants to see: goats, piglets, bunnies, chickens, ducks, alpacas, and Osmo keeping an eye on all of it.

Small groups on purpose, so every kid gets real time with the animals.

Hay Plucky Pals! Junior Farmers is coming back this fall, and we moved it to Fridays. Need an afternoon activity to keep your kiddos engaged on those early dismissal days? We got you. 🌾

JUNIOR FARMERS FALL SESSION
Ages 6-11 · Fridays 2:00 to 6:00pm
8 weeks · September 11th through October 30th

Early release Friday, and then four hours on the farm. Real chores, real tools, animal care, and the woods in October, which is the best month the woods get.

Feed and check the animals. Put the garden to bed for winter. Track whatever has been walking through the compost. Build something. Get filthy.

Our summer crew has been asking when they get to come back. This is when.

We keep the group small, so it fills.

Mabel had eight. 🐰

Eight tiny, wrinkly, mostly bald kits, currently doing nothing but sleeping in a pile and getting fatter. Their eyes should open any day now.

She feeds them about five minutes a day and then leaves them completely alone. That looks like neglect if you do not know rabbits. It is the opposite. She is a prey animal, and staying away from the nest is exactly how she keeps anything from finding it.

We will let you know when they start climbing out.

Hay Plucky Pals, here is the week ahead on the farm.

🍄 MUDKITCHEN MOVED TO MONDAYS. Heads up, this is new. Mondays 4:30 to 5:30pm, ages 2-11. Forage from the garden, mix mud pies and potions, get completely filthy. Pack a full change of clothes, we are not exaggerating.

📚 PIGLET STORY TIME Wednesday 6:30pm. Storybooks on the covered party pad while the piglets climb into laps and solicit belly scratches. Geared towards ages 6 and under, siblings welcome.

🐾 ANIMAL TRACKS WEEK at farm school. Plaster casts, mud prints, field guides, and a lot of strong opinions about which prints belong to the chickens and which belong to the raccoon that has been visiting the compost. Little Sprouts Wed/Thurs/Fri 9am to 1pm. Junior Farmers wraps up Monday and Tuesday, drop-ins open for both days.

🌻 HARVEST HOOTENANNY is Sunday the 23rd, 10:30 to 3:30, here on the farm. Zucchini races, potato dig, piglet snuggles, pancake station, flower crowns. More on that later this week.

🍂 And fall enrollment news is coming Monday. Both programs.

Hay Plucky Pals! Here is everything happening this week. 🐐

🌾 JUNIOR FARMERS starts tomorrow. Ages 6-11, Mon/Tues 9am to 1pm, through August 18th. Week one is Explorers Week: map making, gem excavation, hiking sticks, scavenger hunts. Drop in for a day or grab the whole session.

🎪 SUNCADIA on Saturday. We are loading the trailer and heading over the pass for the Kids Summer Spectacular. Come find our pen.

🐷 ON THE FARM ALL WEEK. Piglet Story Time Wednesday 6:30pm. Mudkitchen Madness Thursday 4:30pm. Animal encounters and Private Encounters on the calendar.
