This month marks 45 years since I became a licensed cosmetologist.

When I began cosmetology school in June of 1981, I was passionate about learning. I wanted to become a skilled colorist and a precision hair cutter, and I threw myself into my education.

Over the years, I had the privilege of helping people look and feel their best, while building friendships and connections that have enriched my life beyond measure.

What I didn’t fully understand at the beginning was that I was also training my eye.

For 45 years, I’ve been observing faces, studying color, noticing contrast, seeing harmony, and learning how the smallest details can make a remarkable difference in how someone looks and feels.

Looking back, I can see how every chapter led me here.

To Curated Color by Katherine.

To helping women understand the colors, harmony, and beauty that have been within them all along.

The tools may have changed, but the heart of the work remains the same:

Helping people see themselves in a whole new light.

For that, I am deeply grateful. ❤️

One of the questions I hear often is:

“How do I wear a multicolored print if I know my season?”

The answer is simpler than most people think.

You don’t need every single color in a print to be perfect.

What matters is that the overall story of the garment fits within your palette.

This blouse works for me because it contains many of my True Spring colors—fresh greens, warm corals, cheerful yellows, clear blues, and creamy neutrals.

Could there be a color or two that isn’t ideal? Of course.

But when most of the colors belong to your season, the overall harmony still works beautifully.

Color analysis isn’t about limiting your wardrobe.

It’s about understanding why some pieces feel effortless while others never quite feel right.

That’s the magic of harmony. ✨

What is your favorite multicolored piece in your closet?

Have you ever stood in front of a full closet and thought,

“I have plenty of clothes… so why does nothing feel right?”

For many women, it isn’t about needing more clothes.

It isn’t about age.
It isn’t about size.
It isn’t about keeping up with trends.

Sometimes it’s simply about understanding what naturally harmonizes with you.

When your colors work with you instead of against you, getting dressed becomes easier. Shopping becomes easier. And perhaps most importantly, you begin to see yourself a little more clearly.

That’s why I love color analysis.

Not because it changes who you are.

Because it helps you recognize who you’ve been all along. 💚

Yesterday, I asked which color you avoid wearing most.

One answer showed up again and again:

💛 Yellow.

That got me thinking…

Maybe the problem isn’t yellow.

Maybe it’s the type of yellow.

Not all yellows are created equal. A bright Spring yellow, a rich Autumn mustard, an icy Winter lemon, and a soft Summer primrose are all yellow—but they create very different effects.

And here’s something I’ve learned through color analysis:

Some seasons embrace yellow effortlessly. Others have a more complicated relationship with it. In fact, for some people, yellow may never be their strongest color family—and that’s okay.

The goal isn’t to force yourself into a color.

The goal is to discover the colors that bring out your natural harmony.

So tell me…

💛 Which yellow feels most like you?

Before you answer, here's something interesting...

Many people think they dislike a color.

But often they don't dislike the color.

They dislike the wrong version of that color.

Maybe it isn't that yellow isn't for you.

Maybe you just haven't found your yellow.

Maybe pink feels too sweet, red feels too bold, or orange feels impossible to wear.

But every season has its own version of those colors.

The right color can make your eyes appear brighter, your skin look healthier, and your overall appearance feel more harmonious.

So I'm curious...

What color do you avoid wearing most often?

💗 Pink

💛 Yellow

❤️ Red

💚 Green

💙 Blue

🧡 Orange

Have you ever stood in front of a closet full of clothes and thought…

“I have nothing to wear.”

Most of us assume we need more clothes.

But what if the problem isn’t your closet?

What if the problem is a lack of harmony?

When we buy pieces one at a time because we love them in the moment, we can end up with a closet full of beautiful clothing that doesn’t work together—or doesn’t feel quite right once it’s on.

That’s where color analysis can make such a difference.

When you understand your most harmonious colors, shopping becomes easier.

Getting dressed becomes easier.

And your wardrobe begins working together instead of competing for attention.

It’s not about having more.

It’s about having the right colors for you.

✨ The goal isn’t perfection.

✨ The goal is harmony.

Have you ever felt like you had a closet full of clothes and still nothing to wear?

I’d love to hear your answer below. 💚

People sometimes ask me,

“What’s your favorite color?”

My answer is always the same:

✨ All of them.

I love color.

The richness of Autumn.
The softness of Summer.
The brilliance of Winter.
The freshness of Spring.

But color analysis isn’t really about your favorite color.

It’s about discovering which colors love you back.

The right colors don’t just sit beside your face.

They work with you.

They can make your eyes appear brighter.

They can make your skin look healthier.

They can soften the appearance of redness.

They can calm the look of rosacea.

They can draw less attention to blemishes and unevenness.

They can help mature skin appear more vibrant and alive.

I’ve seen a teenager’s acne look less noticeable simply because the color was in harmony with her natural coloring.

I’ve seen a woman in her seventies seem to light up when the right color was placed near her face.

The color didn’t change the person.

The harmony changed what we noticed first.

That’s why I love color analysis.

Not because it tells us what colors we can wear.

Because it helps us discover which colors help us shine.

And for me?

My most harmonious colors happen to be True Spring.

But my favorite color?

Still all of them. 💚

💗 Not all pinks are created equal.

One of the biggest surprises in color analysis is discovering that every season has its own version of pink.

❄️ Winter pinks are cool, bright, and vivid.

🌷 Summer pinks are cool, soft, and muted.

🍑 Spring pinks are warm, fresh, and clear.

🍂 Autumn pinks are warm, rich, and earthy.

So when someone says, “I look good in pink,” the real question is…

Which pink?

Swipe through to see how the same color family changes from season to season.

✨ Curious which pink belongs to you?

A personal color analysis can reveal the colors that harmonize naturally with your skin, eyes, and overall coloring—making shopping, makeup, and getting dressed so much easier.

Most people think black is the ultimate neutral.

But what if your best neutral isn't black at all?

Every seasonal palette has neutrals that naturally harmonize with your coloring.

❄️ True Winter often shines in black.

🍂 True Autumn is beautifully complemented by rich espresso.

🌷 True Summer is often enhanced by soft charcoal.

🍑 True Spring can come alive in olive.

The magic of color analysis isn't about following rules. It's about discovering which colors make your skin look healthier, your eyes brighter, and your features more harmonious.

So tell me...

Which neutral do you reach for most often?

⬛ Black🤎 Espresso🩶 Charcoal🫒 Olive

And if you've ever wondered why some colors seem to work effortlessly while others never feel quite right, that's exactly what a personal color analysis can uncover.
