BEFORE A TRUE SUMMER BUYS ANOTHER BLACK DRESS…

Let’s consider soft navy instead.

Black can appear very deep and abrupt against True Summer’s naturally cool, blended coloring. Soft navy provides the same elegance and versatility—but relates much more beautifully to the person wearing it.

Build around it with:

• Cool blue-gray or soft charcoal
• Rose, berry or periwinkle accents
• Dove gray or pewter accessories
• Soft white instead of stark white
• Silver jewelry
• A softly defined cool rose lip

Nothing about this outfit feels less sophisticated without black. It still has depth, structure and polish—but the colors flow together rather than competing for attention.

When shopping, don’t ask only, “Does this come in black?”

BEFORE A TRUE SPRING BUYS ANOTHER BLACK OUTFIT…

Let’s look at what she could choose instead.

Black may feel polished, safe and easy—but True Spring can create that same sophistication with neutrals that are warmer, clearer and far more harmonious.

Begin with a beautiful clear navy. It gives you the depth and versatility of black without creating the same heaviness against your natural coloring.

Then build around it with:

• Warm ivory instead of stark white
• Camel or cognac leather instead of black
• Clear coral or turquoise for energy
• Luminous gold jewelry
• A fresh, warm lip color that brings you into the picture

Notice that this outfit doesn’t look less elegant because black is missing. In fact, it looks richer, fresher and much more intentional.

HOW CAN A SUMMER WEAR BLACK? 🖤

Black is deep, strong and high-contrast. Summer beauty is cool, softly blended and more delicate—so black can sometimes become the first thing we notice.

But that doesn’t mean it has to leave your wardrobe.

The secret is to create a gentle bridge between the black and your face.

Try adding:

• A cool rose, periwinkle or soft blue near your face
• Silver jewelry
• A softly defined rose lip
• Soft white rather than stark white
• A scarf, blouse or jacket in one of your beautiful Summer colors

Let black become the foundation of the outfit—not the entire story.

And when you shop going forward, pause before automatically choosing black. Would soft navy, charcoal, slate blue or blue-gray give you the same versatility while creating more harmony with you?

Your color analyst tells you black isn’t in your palette…

And you immediately gasp—because it makes up most of your wardrobe! 🖤

First, take a breath. Color analysis is never about telling you what you can or cannot wear—and it certainly doesn’t mean clearing out your closet and starting over.

It’s about discovering the colors that are naturally in harmony with you—the ones that brighten your eyes, soften your complexion and allow you to be seen first.

And black? You can still wear it.

We simply learn how to make it work for you: choosing a flattering color near your face, adding the right lipstick, jewelry or scarf, adjusting the neckline—or pairing black with the beautiful neutrals already waiting in your palette.

The real change often happens when you begin shopping again.

Now you know what to look for. Instead of automatically reaching for another black top, dress or jacket, you may find yourself choosing a rich navy, warm chocolate, soft charcoal or another beautiful neutral from your palette. Little by little, your wardrobe begins to change—not because someone told you it had to, but because you’ve seen how extraordinary the right colors make you look and feel.

You may even shop less because you’re buying with purpose instead of guessing.

Color analysis doesn’t take colors away from you. It gives you the knowledge to wear—and shop for—them more intentionally.

Purple is commanding the Fall 2026 runways—but a color being “in style” doesn’t mean every version of it is right for you.

A warm, luminous orchid. A softened lavender. A rich aubergine. A clear royal violet. They may all be called purple, but each creates a very different effect against the face.

Color analysis doesn’t keep you from participating in fashion. It helps you discover your most beautiful version of what fashion is offering.

That is the difference between simply wearing the trend—and making the trend look as though it were created for you.

Once you know your colors… take yourself shopping. Literally. 😉

Here’s one of my favorite little tricks once you already know your True Season and understand your palette.

Take a simple selfie, print it, and cut away the clothing — leaving your face, hair and neckline intact.

Now you have a tiny YOU to take shopping. ❤️

Slip different colors and prints behind your photo and suddenly you’re not trying to imagine, “Would this look good on me?” You can actually see your face next to it.

Does your complexion come alive?
Do your eyes become clearer?
Does the color support you — or does the clothing suddenly become the first thing you notice?

And it isn’t just for the store. Take your little cutout into your own closet and start experimenting with pieces you already own.

Your swatch palette tells you where to begin.
Your face confirms the harmony.

Color analysis isn’t about memorizing a bunch of rules. It’s about learning to recognize you in color.

This little room has become one of my favorite places to be.

Not because of the drapes or the swatches or all the color tucked into every corner—but because of what happens here.

People walk in wondering what colors belong to them. And somewhere between comparing fabrics, studying undertones and seeing that first yes, THAT’S it color near their face… something shifts.

They begin to see themselves a little differently.

And I still think that may be my favorite part of color analysis. ❤️

Like mother, like daughter… at least when it comes to color. 💙

Meet Trudi and Kolleen — Mom and daughter, and both True Summers.

And what a beautiful example of something I love about color analysis.

Finding your season doesn’t hand you a uniform.

It hands you a range.

Both Trudi and Kolleen are beautifully at home in the cool, balanced harmony of True Summer — gorgeous blues, berries, cool pinks, teals, lavenders and softened neutrals.

But here’s the fun part…

They don’t have to live in their palettes the same way.

Trudi can gravitate toward the colors that feel most like Trudi.
Kolleen can do exactly the same.

One may love the deeper berries, blues and teals, while the other reaches more often for pinks, lavenders or lighter cool shades. They’re both still living beautifully within their True Summer palette — just making it their own.

And no — being Mom and daughter doesn’t mean they were destined to share a palette! Family members can absolutely belong to completely different seasons. Trudi and Kolleen simply happen to share the same beautiful True Summer harmony.

Finding your best colors is powerful—but it’s only part of the picture.

Color harmony helps bring you forward. The right colors can make your eyes look brighter, your complexion more even, and your overall appearance feel naturally connected.

Silhouette harmony does something similar for your shape. Understanding proportion, length, structure, movement, and where clothing falls on your body can make getting dressed feel so much easier.

Put the two together?
