“I’m interested in the look of things and the quality of being there,” photorealist artist Rod Penner says. “A moment that is completely frozen with all the variety of textures; rust on poles, crumbling asphalt, light hitting the grass.”

Penner’s meticulous technique records both the iconic imagery and the beauty of these once-prosperous streets and neighborhoods that still endure. The incredibly poignant scenes evoke a universalism, a collective experience seen through the lens of Americana.

Penner’s painting “View of Llano, TX” is currently included in the show Rivaling Reality: 60 Years of Photorealism at Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden, Germany. On view until August 2, 2026.

Shown is our title Rod Penner: Paintings, 1987-2022. Available as hardcover and eBook in our Bookshop!

Congratulations to Carole Feuerman for recieving the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center (ISC)! We are absolutely thrilled and delighted that she has been honored with this important recognition of her monumental practice and many contributions to the global arts community.

For over five decades, Carole Feuerman has redefined realism in sculpture. Her human-figure sculptures express a refreshing perspective on the mundane but intensely personal activities of modern life. Her powers of observation and versatility find unique expression through various materials that include marble, bronze, vinyl, and painted resins, while she incorporates both ancient and contemporary methods in the creation of her works.

We take this opportunity to revisit “Swimmers: Carole Feuerman,” a gorgeous and shimmering glimpse at her work. In his astute and insightful essay, American poet and critic John Yau describes Feuerman’s exquisitely rendered figures as subjects “caught in a moment of transition that radiates an intense eroticism.” We love how boldly this statement captures the power of Feuerman’s sculpture. Link in our profile to learn more about the book and collector’s edition.

Feuerman’s monumental sculptures are currently on view at in Baku, Azerbaijan, in Tampa, FL, and in Quebec City, Canada.
