Harlequin Musical Theatre Club

Harlequin Musical Theatre Club Singing & Dancing for MCLA since 2002! Harlequin is a student-run musical theater club at MCLA and has been active since 2002!

Every Fall, we put on a musical r***e, a student-directed compilation of various songs from different musicals! The r***e includes all who audition and is generally performed in early December. In Spring, we perform our annual musical, a piece that is chosen by the club and directed by a club member. The musical allows participants to have a hands-on experience, working on not only putting togethe

r the show itself, but also creating the set, costumes, and more! Past musicals include Chicago, Bat Boy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Re**er Madness, Urinetown, Cabaret, Once Upon a Mattress, The Wild Party, RENT, Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods, Avenue Q, and most recently, Carrie! Harlequin tries to give its club members as much experience with musical theater as we can and work hard to provide the club with information about local performances and trips to Broadway to see what's new on the stage! Feel free to contact any E-board member with questions or comments about Harlequin! We're happy to help and always open to new ideas and opinions!

Hello Harlequin!

Submissions for next semester's spring musical are open! If you have an idea for a musical Harlequin can produce in Spring 2022, please email [email protected] and be sure to include the following:

- Name of musical
- Playwright(s) & composer(s)
- Brief summary of musical
- Main cast and ensemble size
- Any other important info (including links to webpages with more info, etc.

We'll be taking submissions until December 4, 2021.

We will be holding our final event of the semester this Tuesday, May 4th @ 7 PM! We will be announcing the nominees for next year's e-board as well as having our senior roasts/affirmations! Come on by, and let an e-board member know if you have any questions!

Don't forget, tomorrow night is Among Us Night 2.0 + '21-'22 E-board nominations!

Hi all!
We have two events coming up to wrap up the semester!

Firstly, following the success of our last Among Us Night, we will be holding Among Us Night 2.0! You can find the information for this event in the attached poster! We will also be holding nominations for next year's e-board at this event, so please consider attending even if you do not intend on running for e-board! If you can not attend but would like to nominate someone, please email your nomination to [email protected] or to our secretary Zurie!

Secondly, on Friday April 23 at 3:30 we will be hosting SENIOR ROASTS/AFFIRMATIONS! If you are a senior who would like to be roasted or given affirmations, please comment on this post or send us an email and we will make arrangements! We'd love to be able to give our seniors a fun sendoff despite a tough year! We will also be announcing the '21-'22 e-board at this event, so please consider attending this event as well!

After a great deal of consideration, the e-board has decided to cancel the spring musical due to restraints from COVID-19. We sincerely wish we could put on a musical this year, but there are too many safety and logistical concerns. We will still be hosting a number of smaller, virtual events throughout the course of this semester, so keep an eye out for information on those! We appreciate all our members for bearing with us during this confusing and ever-changing time. Thank you all, and be safe!
