Today marks six years since BAAMS — The Berkshires Academy for Advanced Musical Studies — was officially incorporated as a nonprofit. 🎶
Since June 2022, we've been proud to call Heritage State Park our home, operating out of the iconic red Building 6 right here in North Adams. And while the park's redevelopment is exciting news for the whole community, we want our neighbors to know: something has been happening here all along.
Over the past few years, we've provided high-quality weekend and after-school music instruction to hundreds of students between the ages of 10 and 18 — connecting young Berkshire musicians with world-class faculty from the Juilliard School, Berklee College of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music, as well as members of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" band, multi-Grammy Award-winning artists, and former collaborators of Sting, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, and The Allman Brothers Band.
Our students don't just take lessons — they create. They've written and recorded original music and performed at the FreshGrass Festival, the Williams' Inn, Studio 9, and MASS MoCA.
We're also thrilled to announce that our 8th Annual Berkshires' Summer Jazz Band Day Camp runs July 12–16. Whether you're a prospective student or just a curious neighbor, come find us in Building 6 and say hello. We'd love to meet you. 🎺

BAAMS’ ensemble group had a fantastic visit to MASS MoCA for our tour, along with director Richard Boulger and chaperones!! Thank you to Rebecca Cuscaden Marvin for all the coordination with our team. Can’t wait to share what our students created in response to the exhibits we saw today! 🎼😁🎹❤️🎷🪘🥁🎸
