Meet Zarina!

Zarina's words ring true: a young pianist and saxophonist, Zarina joined camp for the first time this summer. We're really glad she did — because now she knows what's possible studying music at BAAMS! The Berkshires' Academy for Advanced Musical Studies, founded in 2020 to provide music education and cultural arts and music events around Berkshire County, is headquartered in North Adams, Massachusetts. ALSO known as BAAMS, it provides after-school and Saturdays music instruction, lessons, workshops, and an annual week-long music camp in the summer. BAAMS also offers musical-cultural events like concerts for both students and faculty, and arts events and workshops.

BAAMS is an approved nonprofit corporation and recognized Massachusetts public charity. Our ability to fulfill our mission is critically dependent upon fundraising, with support coming from donors, business sponsors, foundations, government grants, local arts councils, and through ticketed events, sales of merchandise, etc., including ORIGINAL music created by BAAMS Students & Faculty as recently as 2025 (please check us out on BandCamp under "We Are BAAMS".

We look forward to moving ahead with financial strength, and are delighted you may also join in supporting our students, faculty, and our organization's team to expand opportunities for world-class music education right here in the Northern Berkshires, and the contiguous regions of Southern VT, eastern NY State, and central Mass., AND BEYOND!

Richard Boulger, the founder and executive director of BAAMS, hails from North Adams, is a Hartt School of Music Graduate who took his Master's degree from Rutgers University, and was a protogé of the late jazz trumpet icons Donald Byrd and Freddie Hubbard.

Great read in today's BERKSHIRE EAGLE Berkshire Eagle by Matt Martinez. The story ties together memories of trumpet legend MILES DAVIS shared by the great musicians who take to the stage this Saturday, August 8 at the Bousquet Jazz & Blues Festival. We are so blessed to have these icons bringing their music to the Berkshires!

The Bousquet Jazz and Blues Festival will feature a Miles Davis centennial set from trumpeter Richard Boulger and former collaborators Mino Cinelu on percussion and William "Spaceman" Patterson on guitar
