Family, Friends, Fo’s, or whoever. Most know, some don’t. A week ago I released a song on every platform I can imagine (24 to be exact) The Main ones being FB, IG, TikTok, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc. A little synopsis. As I still see on my feed, everyday someone suffering from Mental Health and mentally very unstable, or even worse- doing harm to themselves. I’ve watched way too many friends impacted from their own lives, friend, or family member. It’s been so long since I’ve put any music out, but felt compelled with this, because of people I personally know and love as well. I would guess 90’ish% or more of people have been directly or indirectly affected by this situation. It’s called Hurricane Inside. The hurricane representing whatever issue that you or someone you know is going through, because if you don’t fully know about it, you don’t completely understand it. The song takes you on a daily journey of how it affects you, but the song also represents hope, which is the most important thing. I hope you give it a shot. Take a listen. If you like it, save it to your playlist and if you know of someone who should hear it- please share it. My goal, for this 6 month project, was to write it, record it, produce it and release it. My hopes were if I could reach even 1 person that this could help and let them know this disease does not define you. You are stronger, better than any depression, anxiety, addiction or whatever it may be that there’s light and will always be light. If you or someone has any thoughts about it and if it may have helped you see things more clearly, please dm me, like so many have so far. It is a sad song, but also an amazing ending. I will also paste the lyrics here to read/sing along too. Being an Independent artist it takes a couple of weeks, after the release before the major platforms approve the lyrics. Thank you in advance!
~Shawn Evans (Hurricane Inside)
I keep saying I'm alright
Just another long week
Just another hard night
I wear a smile
like it don't weigh a thing
But it's heavier than they'll ever see
I'm surrounded but I'm still alone
Like a stranger sitting in my own home And I don't know how to explain
Why breathing feels the same as pain
I tried to hold it together but it's hard sometimes
Cause the storm keeps getting louder in the back of my mind
I'm a sad story in a crowded room
A hurricane trying to push through
I laugh so you don't hear the ache But I'm breaking
With every breath I take
If you really knew
What l've been through
Would you stay or
Would you leave me empty too
That way
Some days I'm strong
Some days I bend
some days I don't Feel like I can pretend
My mind is a back road I can't Outrun
Chasing peace but it never comes I'm tired of fighting wars in my head
Tired of wishing I was someone else Instead
Tired of losing sleep at night
Praying for a little light
And I ask God for just one sign
But the dark shows up every time
I keep pretending that I'm okay
While my soul just slips away
I'm a sad story in a crowded room.
A hurricane trying to push through
I laugh so you don't hear the ache But I'm breaking with every breath I take
If you really knew
What I've been through
Would you stay
Or would you turn and walk away?
Maybe tomorrow I'll feel something New
Maybe the sky will finally break Through
Maybe I'm more than all this pain
Maybe I won't always feel this way Cause I'm still here
Even when it hurts
Even when it's hard
Even when it burns
Maybe hope will start a small flame
In the middle of the rain
I'm a sad story in a crowded room I'm still standing in the aftermath
I'm not healed but I'm holding on
Trying to find my way back
And if you really knew what I've Been through
You might see there's a heart still Beating underneath all of me
There's a hurricane inside
But I'm still here tonight
Mmmm mmmmm
The sun will come up tomorrow
And even though it's hard I'll be here
Maybe the light will shine through
Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel new
