It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our founder, Chris Logan. Chris suffered some strokes back in March and was undergoing rehabilitation in Omaha. While it looked for a time that recovery may have been possible, he developed pneumonia and his condition continued to worsen until he passed away earlier this week. Chris Logan was a beloved brother, father, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. I was lucky to have met Chris, a sentiment that I'm sure anyone else who knew him well would agree with. Chris was a relentlessly positive individual with a great sense of humor and an even greater heart. Even when people had treated him poorly or had taken advantage of his kindness, I never heard Chris Logan say a bad word about anyone. He gave money to people who struggled financially, gave a place to stay to people struggling with homelessness, and gave his time and energy to assist people in staying sober. He was one of the most generous people I ever met and was always helping others, truly embodying the golden rule that Jesus Christ spoke of in Luke 6:31. Chris Logan led a fruitful life. He served his country in the army and worked in the ice cream freezer of Hiland Dairy. For years, he performed music as the drummer for a band and always encouraged and mentored his family and friends with their ambitions to play music. After his father died, Chris eventually took over Logan's Video Center, the family video rental business, and renamed it Chris Logan's Call Video in 1994. For decades, the store was very popular and developed a loyal customer base. Chris Logan's video store lasted about 30 years, longer than any other video rental store in Norfolk, Nebraska. Although the business struggled in its final years because of the arrival of streaming services, Chris stayed open due to his many loyal customers and his love for the store. He did all this while being a devoted family man and maintaining a large circle of close friends who loved him just as much. He is undoubtedly resting in peace now, and I'm sure he's having a great time up there. A memorial service will be held at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in the near future. Updates will be incoming as to what will happen with the store.
