Our recreation centers at Fairlawn, Huntersville, Berkley, and Lambert’s Point kicked off the summer with tons of energy, big smiles, and unforgettable moments. From games and activities to new friendships and endless laughter, our campers are already making this a summer to remember.

Today’s His & Her Day event at the Horace Downing Senior Center was truly a day to remember! 🎉💕 Our seniors came together to enjoy music, delicious food, fun games, lively entertainment, heartfelt tributes, and exciting giveaways all in a warm and family‑friendly atmosphere filled with love, gratitude, and togetherness.

Norfolk’s Free Fishing Day brought out an amazing community vibe! 🎣☀️

This past weekend, folks joined the Norfolk Park Rangers at the Chesterfield Heights Fishing Pier to grab a rod, enjoy the sunny weather, and cast a line into the beautiful waters.

Get outside with Norfolk Park Rangers this June as we wrap up the month with three great programs for all ages🌿

🦉 Birding with a Ranger
Wednesday, June 17 | 9–10 a.m. at Lambert’s Point Open Space (4303 Powhatan Ave.)
Learn how to identify local birds by sight and sound as we take a relaxed walk through the park in search of warblers, woodpeckers, wading birds, and more. All ages welcome.

👣 Tots on the Trail
Friday, June 19 | 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Lakewood Ranger Station (1612 Willow Wood Dr.)
Walk, roll, or carry your little ones along the trail while exploring nature through simple conservation activities, story time, crafts, and a short park walk.

🦅 Birding with a Ranger
Sunday, June 21 | 9–10 a.m. at Lafayette Park Basketball Court (3500 Granby St.)
Join us for another leisurely birding walk as we look and listen for a variety of seasonal birds and learn basic ID skills. All ages welcome.

Each event is a fun way to explore nature, learn something new and enjoy our beautiful parks. Dress for the weather; closed‑toe shoes are recommended. See you on the trail! 🌳✨

The Norfolk Fitness & Wellness Center is progressing! Since the last update, we can now see the outdoor sitting and play areas, surrounded by open field. Tennis and pickleball courts will be installed just east of the play areas.

Looking north you can see the gymnasium and natatorium coming together, complete with lazy river and the pool — before the roof is installed.

Towards the south, we can view the roof of the brand new library and the parking beyond it.
