All Hands Pottery Studio was founded in 2018 by Angela Lindauer, a retired Navy Senior Chief.

Wheel number TWO has arrived, and we're taking you along for the unboxing!

Since we've been sharing our new partnership with BTH, we thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce you to the company behind our newest studio additions.

BTH (Jingdezhen BaiTaoHui Ceramic Equipment Co., Ltd.) was founded in 2012 in Jingdezhen, China, a city famous for its centuries-old ceramic traditions. It's a fitting place for a company dedicated to helping ceramic artists create, learn, and grow.

Today, BTH's reach extends to more than 20 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia. In addition to manufacturing pottery wheels, kilns, and other ceramic equipment, the company works with schools and art centers to help expand access to ceramic education.

One thing we especially appreciate about BTH's mission is its commitment to supporting the ceramic community, not just through equipment, but through education, innovation, and opportunities for artists at every level.

And now, two of their wheels have found a home in our little corner of Norfolk, Virginia!

We’ve had some colorful kiln unloads, but this one was beautiful in a whole different way.

So many soft blues and greens, subtle glaze variations and those little details that you don’t fully get to appreciate until the kiln opens and everything comes back out.

One of our favorite things about handbuilding is just how many possibilities there are.

Cut it. Shape it. Add to it. Change your mind. Adjust as you go. There’s no single path from a slab of clay to a finished piece, and watching that process unfold around the studio is always fun.

If “try pottery” has been sitting on your list, October is giving you exactly ONE chance to make it happen!

Our only Throw Yourself Into Pottery class this month is October 9th from 6:30–8:30 PM.

This hands-on class is perfect for beginners as well as anyone who hasn’t been at the wheel in a while and wants a refresher. Our instructors will guide you through the basics of throwing on the wheel, including centering, pulling and shaping.

All the materials and tools you’ll need are provided. You just need to show up ready to give it a try!
