From their first concert with us in Chesapeake City Park to their final performance this weekend, our fourth class of Fellows, have been spreading the joy of music across Hampton Roads all season long.

While being a part of the VSO Fellowship program, Alyssa, Carlos, and Jalayne have:

🎶 Inspired students during their chamber shows and coaching sessions
🎶 Learned from the world-class VSO musicians and our guest artist by performing right alongside them in over 100 concerts and outreach programs
🎶 Formed lasting connections and relationships
🎶 Cultivated a Capstone Project including all aspects both on and off stage.

All three have enlivened the musical spirit in everyone they have met.

We will miss them dearly next season, but we know these incredibly talented young musicians have a bright future ahead, and we can’t wait to see where each one goes! ❤️🎵

It was a joy to celebrate the 85th Birthday 🎂 of the incredible Adolphus Hailstork last month with the help of Music Director Laureate JoAnn Falletta, Pianist Stewart Goodyear, and the Norfolk State University Chorus!
Cheers to 85 years of amazing music, and we can’t wait to see what year 86 brings! 🎈🎶🎉

Happy Birthday Hailstork!

In the summer of 1945, Allied leaders President Harry S. Truman, Britain's Winston Churchill and the Soviet Union's Joseph Stalin convened in Potsdam, Germany, to discuss peace after World War II.

The 17-day conference was, at times, contentious, but music became a unifier.

The Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Virginia Arts Festival will perform “Finding Peace at Potsdam” on Friday and Saturday in Norfolk and Newport News.

The production combines story and song, Truman’s love of classical music, his inclusion of military musicians, including the famed pianist Eugene List, and how it ties into Hampton Roads history.
