🇺🇸🎉 NOKOMIS HOMECOMING 2026 🎉🇺🇸

While Homecoming may look a little different this year, we are incredibly excited to bring our community together for a weekend full of fun, family, and hometown pride!

As we celebrate 250 Years of American Pride, we’ve worked hard to put together a great lineup of events for everyone to enjoy July 10-12. From the Homecoming Queen Pageant, Parade, Bingo, Beer Tent, and live music by Hard Drive and South of 16, to family favorites like free inflatables, the Pedal Tractor Pull, Car Show, Tractor Show, Wiffle Ball Tournament, Free Swim, Meet the Machines, and our spectacular Fireworks Display, there will be something for all ages.

A huge thank you goes out to all of the organizations, volunteers, sponsors, and community members who continue to support Nokomis Homecoming. Your dedication helps make this celebration possible year after year.

We know change can be difficult, but we are proud of what has been planned and can’t wait to welcome everyone for a weekend of making memories, supporting local organizations, and celebrating our community.

The Nokomis Homecoming Association met again this evening, as we have several times recently, following the devastating news that we were unable to secure a carnival for this year’s celebration.
A number of factors contributed to losing our carnival operation, including low attendance in recent years, community conflict, and challenges beyond our control. The carnival industry has significantly declined since the COVID shutdowns, making it increasingly difficult for small communities like ours to secure operations.
At this time, the future of Nokomis Homecoming feels more uncertain than ever. However, our committee is not ready to throw in the towel. We have discussed the possibility of postponing this year’s event to allow time to potentially secure a carnival in the future. We are also open to exploring different weekend dates, brainstorming alternative event options, and partnering with local organizations to host activities.
We have reached a fork in the road. One option would be to move forward with the 2026 Homecoming despite limited time and resources, attempting to make the best of a difficult situation—while risking depletion of funds that we have worked hard to reinvest back into our community. The other option is to take a step back, regroup, return to the drawing board, and preserve our resources in hopes of ensuring a stronger future for the Nokomis Homecoming, a tradition in our community since 1946.
We understand this announcement may bring criticism, sadness, and many opinions. Please know this decision has not come easily. We are saddened and disappointed, and while it feels defeating, we are still holding onto hope for what the future may bring.
Most importantly, please remember that small communities rely on your support, attendance, and involvement to keep traditions like this alive.
