A little Sunday night creative play.

Pulled out some old Gelli prints that have been lying around, grabbed a metallic gel pen, did a little cutting and gluing, and just…played.

Sometimes I forget how good it feels to make something with absolutely no plan or purpose other than having fun. A pretty perfect way to clear my head before another busy week.

Yay!! I’m so excited to share that “Moonlight Rest” was juried into this year’s HCAA Midwest Exhibit!

A big thank you to this year’s juror, David Hannon, painting professor at BSU School of Art, for including my work.

I can’t wait to see the full exhibit come together and be surrounded by so much incredible art!

End of Day 2 of the still life workshop with Regina Lyubovnaya 🎨

Still plenty to resolve and still searching for a bit of confidence, but I’m starting to find my footing. Two more day. Florals tomorrow!

End of Day 1 of Regina Lyubovnaya still life painting workshop at HCAA

Regina is an incredibly talented artist and an equally gifted teacher. She generously talks us through every step of her process, guiding us through composition, value, color, and the first stages of building a painting.

I definitely became a little too focused on that copper pot and neglected most of the rest of my painting... but I suppose there’s always tomorrow! 😅

There’s so much information to absorb, and while we’re painting still lifes this week, I’m already seeing countless ways these lessons will carry over into portraits, florals, landscapes, and beyond. Looking forward to Day 2!
