Thread and Purls opened exactly 10 years ago today! Here's a bit of our origin story:
10 years ago I was gifted a sewing machine I had no idea how to use and my mom was throwing her newly knitted handmade art in the Goodwill bin. I had recently moved to a new city as a classical pianist and money was tight, so I learned to sew and two weeks later Thread and Purls was born. Thread standing for my sewing and Purls a type of knit stitch representing my mom's work.
Fast forward 10 years, we've done countless juried art fairs and markets, gone viral (which I don't recommend), sold almost 10,000 pieces on Etsy, provided several customers with their "yearly wallets and slippers", and had a blast having something to do together as a mother/daughter team!
A special thank you for those who have supported us throughout these 10 years: The close family and friends who got us off the ground, the great reviews from strangers, the regulars we've never met but keep coming back for more, our husbands that let us hoard our craft supplies, make a total mess, and help with every single craft fair as an unpaid employee, and of course, Etsy for giving us a place to land when we're not out and about locally.
Cheers to 10 years!!! 🥂
