SYNOPSIS
Set in a stark Manhattan apartment in March 1982, This Is Our Youth follows 48 hours in the lives of three deeply conflicted, privileged Upper West Side teenagers. Over the course of a weekend, they navigate drug deals, stolen cash, and the painful transition into an adult world defined by Reagan-era materialism and systemic alienation. It is a sharp, funny, and devastating look at the dawn of adulthood.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
The director is seeking three dynamic, sharp actors to fill the following roles. Ages listed represent the characters; actors should be able to play these ages convincingly.
- DENNIS ZIEGLER (21): Charismatic, domineering, and erratic. Dennis is a small-time drug dealer who uses bravado, cruelty, and manic energy to mask deep-seated anxiety and a desperate need for control. He is the alpha of the dynamic, fiercely intelligent but emotionally volatile.
- WARREN STRAUB (19): Awkward, sensitive, and chronically insecure. Warren has just been kicked out by his abusive, wealthy father and has stolen $15,000 of his father's cash. He is fiercely loyal, deeply observant, and stumbles through his own defense mechanisms.
- JESSICA GOLDMAN (19): Anxious, highly articulate, and defensive. Jessica is a fashion student who uses sharp-tongued intellectualism as a shield against intimacy. She is fiercely opinionated, pragmatic, and caught between her desire for a real connection and her fear of vulnerability.

AUDITION PREPARATION

This production contains intimacy and choreographed fight sequences.

We're excited to announce our latest original project!

Later this month, we'll be participating in The Fast and Fearless Short Play Festival, which will feature seven original 10-minute plays. Each play is produced by a different local theatre, and we're producing HOT DOG SANDWICH, written by Michael Heinekamp and directed by Eric Bryant.

The plays will be presented at The District Theatre on October 23, 24, and 25, and the festival is a great way to support Indy area theatre. Get your tickets at the link in the comments!
